SPEEDY !!!

sorry for jackin your thread .. It's the only one I have bookmarked )

Damn I'm off for a couple days and all hell breaks loose around here lol! Sorry guys I wish I had more exciting news (or at least some tropical beach vacation), but I've spent the last week taking care of a sick girlfriend for the most part and now my dad's been out of town so I've been holding down the fort at work and house-sitting. My buddy Mike's been sick so no tune-up on the engine yet either, but I've been sneaking work in when I can anyway. Mainly all the grille trim that's been a royal PITA, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do and the end is finally in sight haha

Also got going with the dynamat on the headliner, just tapping on the roof on covered areas vs non-covered it's pretty crazy the difference dynamat makes. And I'll be ordering my headliner today too thanks to the 20% off St. Patty's day sale at Classic Industries. If anyone needs to order anything I think tomorrow is the last day of the sale and the code is MDN144

So hopefully now that the dust is settling from this past couple weeks I'll have more progress to report this weekend!

Wow that's pretty awesome you bought that Charger Mike! The turbines look good on it now you just need a 440 and a pistol grip to throw around haha

You are a hell of a guy Speedy and I'm proud to know you .. taking care of your sick GF and the shop and all. Good man and good to have you back. Nice work on the updates. You buddy Mike has been keeping us entertained in your absence so I'm looking forward to his new thread now.

You in the shop this weekend brother? Can we expect some updates?

Here's some pics of a Buddy's 67 Chevelle from the local cruise nights.. Thought you might like em!

I sure do, I had a 66 i did some years back, cruise night needs different cars or the Mopars cant stand out, and i have a soft spot for several bowties and there looks...

Yep I'm finally in the shop back at it with a vengeance today guys, got Slow Ride blasting on the radio as I type this, shop door open enjoying the beautiful day and knocking stuff out haha :icon_thumleft:

One of my best friends is in town visiting from UTI Sacramento so him and I finished up the Dynamat Xtreme on the headliner yesterday, the roof sounds solid as a rock now! I'd definitely recommend this stuff to anyone, used Fat Mat in my Chevelle which ended up pretty good but I've heard it's half the thickness of Dynamat, which imo is probably true now that I see how well the Dynamat works.

Also got going with the seam sealer on the interior, honestly it definitely isn't any work of art but from what everyone says and I've seen of Ma's factory job, I don't think I feel too bad about it lol not like it'll be visible anyway haha

20140322_155341.jpg

Ran out of seam sealer and had to make a run to Napa, but I'll finish the rest up tomorrow
20140322_161551.jpg

And on a fancier note, I finally got all the grille trim restored and shining like a stolen penny. Can't even say how glad I am to have all the hours that went into these things behind me, now I just gotta finish up a little silver paint on the plastic grille sections and it'll be going back together. :icon_pray:

Oh and I sandblasted my horns and all the grille hardware I discovered in the box-o-hardware that came with the car, guess I won't have to Macguyver up the hardware after all lol

More progress to come tomorrow :eek:ccasion14:

And that's a bad@ss '67 Goon thanks for sharing!! Makes me wish mine was back on the road already

Super awesome Speedy! You have done an excellent job on that old girl, that's a lot of fresh metal and elbow grease in all this, very nice to look at!

Great work as always Speedy. I hate it when you take a break too, but needs must lol. I am polishing trim at the moment so I know how that feels haha.

Great job Speedy, your trim looks better than new. When you get around to sealing the drip rail there's a little trick I picked up, Acetone and a small soft brush works great to really smooth out the seam sealer. Keep on pluggin

Nice progress Speedy. After all the hours spent welding in new metal and filling any imperfections with filler, I thought it was kind of cool to be able to just slop in the seam sealer and not have to worry about messing something up.

Hey Speedy - great job on the roof with the dyna-mat . . . The same company makes another product called dyna-liner, and it comes in 1/8", 1/4", and 1/2" thicknesses . . . it's also a sound barrier and a heat barrier, but it's a bunch lighter in weight. This stuff really works well too.

Here's how it looks installed in my 1966 Shoe-Box

sm_dynaliner.jpg

It can actually work with dyna-liner and can be installed over top of it for additional heat/sound barrier improvements . . .

I think I installed the 1/4" stuff and I love it . . . I've got dyna-mat on the floor of the entire car - GREAT STUFF ! !

Just a heads up to the group in case someone want to check out another great product for cars . . .
