Great work and results Speedster
Hey Speedy - great job on the roof with the dyna-mat . . . The same company makes another product called dyna-liner, and it comes in 1/8", 1/4", and 1/2" thicknesses . . . it's also a sound barrier and a heat barrier, but it's a bunch lighter in weight. This stuff really works well too.
Here's how it looks installed in my 1966 Shoe-Box

It can actually work with dyna-liner and can be installed over top of it for additional heat/sound barrier improvements . . .
I think I installed the 1/4" stuff and I love it . . . I've got dyna-mat on the floor of the entire car - GREAT STUFF ! !
Just a heads up to the group in case someone want to check out another great product for cars . . .
Thanks man, it feels good to be back haha and good luck with the trim! I was about to go off the reservation trying to get all that stuff straightened out and polished lolGreat work as always Speedy. I hate it when you take a break too, but needs must lol. I am polishing trim at the moment so I know how that feels haha.
Thanks for the tip Devin! I'll have to give that a try when I do my doorjambsGreat job Speedy, your trim looks better than new. When you get around to sealing the drip rail there's a little trick I picked up, Acetone and a small soft brush works great to really smooth out the seam sealer. Keep on pluggin
Thanks elk! But damn now you just reminded me of the lifetime of block-sanding in my near future.. :upside down:Nice progress Speedy. After all the hours spent welding in new metal and filling any imperfections with filler, I thought it was kind of cool to be able to just slop in the seam sealer and not have to worry about messing something up.
Oh yeah I saw that stuff advertised on the little flyer in the box of dynamat I bought, good to know it works good and thanks for posting that! I was kinda worried this Xtreme stuff would be really heavy but it's not bad at all, could probably more than make up the weight difference switching to an aluminum water pump housing hahaHey Speedy - great job on the roof with the dyna-mat . . . Hey thanks Prop and that's for sure it definitely is one hell of a feeling, can't even imagine what it'll be like to lay my first black stripes down the road hahaGreat to see all your hard work paying off so nicely. Heck of a feeling when something comes out so nice and you can stand back thinking "I did that". It isn't a matter of going to UTI or having 30 years of working in a resto shop under your belt....It's about having the mindset that if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Keep up the good work!
Thanks man! I'm always glad to help anyone whenever I can, and that's awesome to hear! And I say start a buildthread anyway! I really didn't have much experience or knowledge at all whenMan Speedy, you have done a superb jon on this restoration. I really enjoy seeing all the work you do and inspires me to keep working on my old bird. I wish I had more input but I am learning so much from what you are doing. I really enjoy seeing the emails pop up everynight saying there is an update to your subscription. If i had more confidence in my wokr, I might have actually started a resto thread.
Thanks goon, and yeah maybe if they were some crazy 6 piston viper calipers I'd leave them red but I think these ones will come out pretty cool if I can get the clear rightAgreed on the VHT Engine Metallics.... Really prefer it to the red
Thanks man! Good to hear after all the hours that went into this grille, starting to feel like I'm repainting the Mona Lisa here hahaI'm looking forward to seeing what you choose and seeing the finial results on the brakes .. both colors look good to me. And that grill piece looks like show quality to me !!!
Thanks reboot, and just make sure they're really good and clean/degreased before painting. Even if they're new/refurb'd in the box like mine there's a chance they'll still be oily as all hell hahaGreat update man. Grill looks great! as do the brakes. I need to go back and paint mine too.
Man, if it was a stock style '68/9 Charger hood I'd be all over it! I'm hoping I can pick up a fiberglass one second-hand cheaper than new. And yeah he might I'll give him a call today and pass the message along!Need a hood?
Found this locally.. Fiberglass .. $125.00 !!
I need some 71 Charger parts .. I heard Mike (dv) has a couple of parts cars?
Ask him for me .. Thanks,
(the other Mopar) Mike.
:evil4:
or pm me and give me his #
Thanks Ron! And I think you're right the warm weather and baking in the sun probably helped out a lot. Things have cooled back down to the 50's with rain and no end in sight so I might have to crank the heater in the shop and cook these last couple pieces in front of a spotlight or something first :thinker: keeping my fingers crossed! lolSpeed your job came out real good on your grill parts, that sun and the heat helped you out pretty good man, everything looks great but these Charger grills you and so many are doing, its cool as it gets watching them turn out, to me looking at them better then new, yea im about that old and no i cant remember lol but with the newer paints and knowledge, it wouldn't surprise me as beautiful as they look!!
