69 Coronet 440 project

Wow....real cool! I'm sure you're pretty proud of your boy, and you should be pretty proud of yourself as well. You've obviously been raising him right. :icon_thumright:

I'm very proud of my son and I'd like to think I've raised him right. so far so good because in today's society he could have turned out much worse. Both of my kids and my 2 stepkids turned out pretty good.

now that's great!

Thanks, he loves building things and working with wood. He's considering getting into construction for a living.

With these being tough times in the BigBlock household, there's no gas in the welder, no spot weld cutter, no heat in the garage, and no money to put towards the Coronet, so I've got to dig deep to figure out what I can do to the Coronet and keep it moving forward. I've gone back to polishing the front grill. I've finished straightening the fins and polished all the fins where I want them to shine. I know the front grill is not supposed to be polished but it just looks better this way. The Coronet grill was left natural and the Super Bee grill was painted black so mine is a combination of the two. I've still got some cracks to repair and I'm working on those now. I'm researching if I can just solder them back together or if I'm going to have to do some kind of welding. I'm looking at a product called Muggy Weld to fix the cracks as it claims to be the cure all for these types of problems.

good to hear from you john,i know you will do a good job with that grill as you have done with everything else you have done, just relax and take it easy things will come around for you, that coronet has been pampered by you for a while now, i think that coronet will be setting right there for you when you are ready, you know life gets in our way sometimes, but you appear be the kind of man that can weather the storm and i am rooting for ya!

Hey good to hear you're still around.....Sorry to hear about your battle in the trenches. Hope it gets better for you soon. Grill looks great. Unless you stumble on a TIG welder or gas weld, I'm sure Muggy weld would work just fine. It's not like there's any real stress or structural support with the grill

PM me your address....I got a spare Blair arbor & spotweld cutter bit's I'll send you. I'd rather see someone putting it to use than sitting on my workbench. I'm sure you're like me, and just working on your Mopar out in the garage with some good tunes can be a great oasis/therapy.

I may not always post but I'm usually around lurking in the corners LOL. PM sent and thanks.

thanks johnny, you're right about the Coronet not going anywhere. That's the nice thing about this hobby the car's always waiting for ya when you're ready to work on it. I've weathered many storms in my life and this is just another on to work through. The nice thing about being me is I'll always land on my feet.

Sorry to hear about the finances, hopefully things turn around quickly so you can get back on the Coronet. Very thoughtful of your son, gotta love getting homemade gifts from the little ones haha.

I haven't thought of him as a little one for a long time now. I'm 6'6" and he's 6'5". Hell, my daughter is 5'11". I make em big in this family haha.

You got sand John, And if any can do it you will! I hope things get better soon, sometimes the storms can get us down but your one that will not let that happen!

Yea Ron I've got sand for the blaster and on the warmer days that's where you'll find me. Cleaning one part or another as it's all a means to an end right? As for the storms, I just need to figure out how to get control, 2014 was like being out in the ocean without a tiller.

To bad we weren't closer, I'd gladly offer a spot in the garage and my welder (gas and wire) to keep you moving along. Sucks when even the little things are out of reach but if there's anything we can do just yell, I'm sure getting your tank filled or something like that could be arranged "seriously".

Thanks Devin, I'll keep that in mind. I wish we lived closer just so I could say I helped with the Charger. I can't wait to see the trans done.

It's gettin' there Ron. As to where I am on the car? I'd have to say the middle! Hopefully this summer I'll be able to do the drivers side wheelhouse, trunk extension, door jamb. and quarter. I have most of those parts already so that's the direction I'll go. Along with that the cleanup of the other parts and anything else I can do to keep moving forward.

Hey BigBolck61 . . . So sorry to hear about the troubles with the finances, and I sure hope that you find a way to get them back under control soon . . .

I think I've got a spot weld cutter here too, that could be sent your way . . . if you're interested.

By the way . . . I'm a Michigander myself, but work relocated me to the warmer south ! ! ! My cousin still lives up in Midland . . .

John, things will work out and then you'll be busier than you'll know and things will get back on track.

Thanks Khan for the offer. Prop had a spare that he is sending my way. I remember you telling me that you're from Michigan once before. It's sort of funny on the cousin front because I have a cousin that moved to Concord, North Carolina.

Thanks Roger, this is true, things always work out. I just have to stay positive and the Coronet helps with that. Today I spent the day out in the garage removing the upper control arm bushings and ball joints from the upper control arms so they can get cleaned up and blasted. I spent most of the afternoon looking for my ball joint socket. That's one of those tools that you always know where it is till you need it. Then it's nowhere to be found lol. Ended up saying F--K IT and used the air hammer to spin them out. Whatever it takes to get the job done!

Now that's a very interesting coincidence . . . almost Twilight Zone freaky ? ? LMAO . . .

Hang in there . . .
