Man this thread really has me motivated to start anothet project, something radical!!! I've got a Starsky and Hutch car to chop up??? Awesome work.

I finished up the other rear frame rail. I didn't polish the tube like the first one, but it's all going to be blasted when it's in the car.

I had to take some time out to fix my fine, china quality, Harbor Freight tube notcher. It had some loose fitting bronze bushings that didn't wear so well. I drove them out and also removed the soft china bolts that stripped.

I ordered some heavy duty, oil impregnated, high iron bronze bushings. Since all this fine china parts are of nonstandard (meaning not SAE or metric) I had to make a trip to pops shop for some lathe work. It's all back together and the bushings are a full 1-1/4 long. We even installed a greese zert.

The metric bolts were removed and 3/8-16 bolts added instead. These two changes really removed a lot of slop from the notcher. The original design had the bolts threading into the soft, thin plate. I tapped the new holes and also added nuts for more thread engagement. I'll weld the nuts in place.

So....back to the cage. I got the A-pillar bars done and tacked them in place. Once satisfied with their fit and position, the bottom side of the joint was welded out.

They're real tight to the A-pillar. The A-pillar trim will have to get cut into two pieces and trimmed to fit tight against the bar. I think it will look nice and clean once done. The other piece of that puzzle is the dash. It will get trimmed to go around the bars. The top part of the dash will get welded in. The rest of the dash will hinge on the side bolts and attach to the upper half of the dash using Dsuz fasteners. This will allow easy removal of the dash for service work on the A/C or electronics.
