best tire combo? 275/60/15 rear.. 235/60/15 looks short for front.

getting a bit spooked for the awesome 295 50's on my 8" rims.. it would "work" but not be ideal till i get 9" or ideally, 10" rims. to get my front looking better may just get the 245 60's up front or 225 70's.. and keep the 275 60's out back that are on the car. i added another 1.5 turs on the lower control arm screws and brought the front up a bit more. looking more like i like it, and bit more tire up front to fill in the wheel well will be nice (235 60 on there now just seems tad small to me). awesome info guys !!

make sure to drive it a bit after torsion bar adjustment because the front will settle a bit and may appear a little lower.

Measure to see if the 235 - 70 will fit on yours to balance the 275-60. Some folks have luck with the 235s on the front, apparently others do not.

235 70 15's on front are for sure on short-list .. so i don't end up buying 4 new tires (just 2 fronts). seeing a lot of photos and video on the Vanguard motor sales page that have many of their mopars in past, sold with 235 70's on the front and 275 60's out back. will see. this combo would certainly fill up the wheel wells!

I've got 235/70x15s on the front of my 69 rr, on 6" steelies.

what brand/model tires Front and Rear? I don't often see that size. Looks great!
Thank you!

33 IMP is correct. The rears are Mickey Thompson ET Street SS Drag radials. The front are an older set of firestones that I will be replacing over the winter. I won't drive one of these older cars with power on anything but drag radials. I don't worry about the car going sideways or kicking out when I hammer it, when I romp on it they hook great.

I'd rather replace a worn set of drag radials instead of old dry rot tires with tread left, haha.

just had some BFG's installed on my magnum 15" wheels (and pretty sure 8" wide, will verify tomorrow).
We went 275/60/15 rear, and 235/60/15 front, but I think the front needs to come up a tad (adjust the height with the bolts under the control arms) but the 235/60's look a bit small? Have a pair of 255/60/15's we were gonna use on the rear if new leaf springs didn't lift enough to not worry about rubbing.. but what do you think about 255/60/15 FRONT, or should i just send the 255's back and get a pair of 245/60/15?
275/60 rear is 28" tall and 10.8" wide
235/60 is 26.1" tall, 9.3 wide
245/60 is 26.6" tall, 9.6 wide
255/60 is 27" tall, 10" wide, OR, a 235/65 is ALSO 27" tall , So would be only 1" shorter than the 275 rears, and is 9.3" wide (same as 235/60)
would the 255/60 on the front, being 10" wide, steer oddly or anything? just had new upper and lower control arms, hd torsion bars, hd leaf springs, some nice shocks.. just like the wheel wells filled up, but a bit of a raised rear stance. just think we have too much right now.. advice?
thanks!

I have 275/60/15's in the back and 245/60/15's in the front, on Rallye wheels on my 70 Road Runner. Very happy with that set up from a ride and handling perspective and I like the look.

Can you share a side photo of your car if you don't mind? I'm currently running 275/60/15 rears with 215/70/15 fronts and considering switching to 245/60/15 fronts like you.

so have the shop ordering a pair of 255/60 15's for the front (replacing the 235/60s on there now in earlier photos) to go with the 275 60 rears on there in my earlier photos. love the wide fronts, like the G60 polyglass i took off that are basically 245 60 15's. The 255's will be tad wider and a tad taller.
Wanted to get a 10" pair of mag 500 wheels to put 295 50's on for the rear, but Summit has none i stock and doesn't know when they will get em. Could have put 295 50's on the 8" mag 500s i have but if im gonna toss all the money at ANOTHER set of tires, trying to get the right look, i wanted to get the best wheel for the tires too. 8" would work as many have done, and may go to it if still not satisfied with the 275/60 - 255/60 combo. Will post some pics when done.

I went through this too. Here's 3 tire combos on the same car to help you decide.

This was 235 60 and 255 60. All 15 x 8 4.5 bs

This is 255 60 and 275 60. I wanted a second set of wheels for changing up the look. I used the 255s I already had and found a smokin deal on some new used 275sor I would have tried 295s.

A 295 55 on an 8" wheel would probably fit under the car at this ride height but it might rub the inner wheel tub arch on occasion. A slightly higher ride height would solve that. I'd get some 295s too but I've been told I have way too much **** already. lol.
Enjoy!

I like steelies and caps (tho I probably would have painted yours body color) but the torque thrusts are 1000% improvement. Superior choice!

they all look darn good! and i like the idea of having a couple sets of spare wheels with different sized tires on em to change it up on occasion. i'll likely do that vs selling some new BFG's for a mega loss just to unload ... and with the new leaf springs that brought the rear up, i don't think i'll have an issue with some 295/50's in future. plenty of room with the 275's now.

Bear in mind that a 295/50 will be almost a half inch shorter than a 255/60. A 295 will stand up a little on an 8" rim but on a 10" it will be noticeably shorter than a 255/60 on an 8" rim.

275x60x15 TA’s on the back. 225x70x15 on the front. 4.5 backspace
Car is on a slight upward slope.
