I'am getting started to change out a few things on my belvedere getting it ready for next year to go racing. I've been sending out letters to mopar action for there advise so between that and reading up in my mopar suspension uprade manual, I think I have it covered but it dont hurt to ask a few fellow mopar freinds for there input. Ok the old set up was like this, Old set of srpings worn out shocks, mystery trans and converter:confused: the previous owner never kept any paper work. Now here is the cool stuff. New set of S/S springs with a relocate kit, Mopar rear drag shocks welded in frame connectors A new Cope Racing Transmission with reverse manual valve body, and a 9.5 converter from Dynamics. The old set of gears that were in it was a worn out clutch type posi now a one tire fire 4;10's swappped out for a new detroit locker 4:30's, The tires that were taken off were a pair of mickey's sportmans pro 26x 10.50 on 15's the new set up is N50/15's M&H Muscle car D.O.T Drag tires. The motor is pretty much the same I changed out some things there The intake I swapped out, For a new Victor, and the carb was kinda crappy it was a mess. it got hung on the wall for a new quick fuel 850 double pump,The cam is a 509 mopar stick the headers are tti 1&7/8, The heads I'am trying to gather the money to do a set of mopar stage I thinks it is stage 5 aluminum heads you can get them in a bare casting which would be perfect cause I've been buying valvtrain stuff over that last year, so far I've got my 2:14's and a set of 1:81's and springs. I still need a few more things. But I figure what the hell lets go race it like it is now I figure with all the changes made it has to be better. Before I forget the previous owner raced it manly on the 1/8 mile so the times he had with it with the old set up was....10:86 but it ran this almost dead on all the time so for bracket racing the car was good. But now its time to see what shes realy capable of doing.:yes:

So was there a question in there somewhere or what was the input you needed? :edgy:

That's a lot of changes at one time, which will make it hard to tell what did the most good or the most harm. I might have started with just the SS springs and tires.

This car is going to run so much better than the previous 10.86 1/8 mile e.t. I have almost the same setup except for the heads. I have 915's with the same size valves you have listed. This car will easily be in the 7's (1/8th mile). Enjoy! but remember........you can never go fast enough!

Drag Racing 101...Getting better 60ft times is a function of getting the car to move quickly initially, moving forward is the name of the game {not big a$$ wheelies}, with very little tire spinning or wasted motion & a good weight transfer, proper shocks for the purpose, like 90/10 shocks & travel limiters up front, light front torsion bars, or struts, quality multi-adjustable rear shocks, rear passenger side trunk mounted battery & box for better weight transfer, maybe even some ballast at the farthest rear low in the car, proper pinion angles, good leaf springs {Super Stocks will work OK} with a adjustable pinion snubber or even better yet go with Cal-Vert Caltracs w/mono-leafs or modified stock type leafs & Cal-Vert Caltracs bars, or ladder bars & adjustable coil overs, or 4 link with rebound & compression adjustable coil overs, a cage/roll bar to tie all the car together, lighten the car & every thing you can, use fiberglass/carbon fiber, aluminum or titanium, to replace steel or cast iron were ever you can, light seats, no carpeting no back seat, no junk in the trunk that isn't race related, lighter wheels, tires, thinner front tires for less rolling resistance, drive shaft or any rotating part sprung or un-sprung.... Good luck...

I have a question, Are you running a fuel cell or stock type fuel tank? If its a stock style tank did you have any problems with the relocate kit hitting the tank?
Thanks.

Chris which car is this ? Its not the 63 right ? Is it a new one you bought ? Or did I just miss that ? Ron
