Car Show pet peeves

So am I the only one who gets annoyed to pull into a car show and see a PT Cruiser all pin striped up, or an 05 yellow Mustang with a few scwiggly lines on it or how about a new Monte Carlo painted red with the #3 and Budweiser all over it. I don't like to place judgement on others cars but for crying out loud don't bring a car to a show that I can see at any car lot. Last show I was at a guy welded nerf bars on a street bike and then attached wheels to them for a cheap Trike!!!!!!............... ridiculous but he got a trophy anyways. I appreciate just about any Hot Rod or Muscle car just not new cars with goofy stripes, wings and stick on scoops............don't get me started on scoops and wings. Sorry for the rant

nope. every car gathering around here is the same way. I don't go. I don't stop and look. some people believe they can hit the sticker and light section at walmart or pep boys and walk out with a full blown custom car

I totally get what you mean, especially about seeing some brand new car just driven off the lot (especially Corvettes) at a show. But if it's an open show then that's some of what you get. I quit going to a lot of the shows around here because of the cars that show up. On the other hand I've seen some jaw dropping Mopars at shows that I probably wouldn't see otherwise, and it didn't cost me anything.

I thought that was confined to the hazed-glass vision of a few shows I've gone to. Mopars are few & far-between... the ones at shows don't get trophys, but they'll give one to somebody with a 1985 Sedan de Ville ( yes, you read that correct... happened today). GM cars or Mustangs get 95 % of all trophys, deserved or not.

What really bugs me is when someone looks at a car next to my 63 and rubs their butt on my car while looking at another !! The other week these guys and gals decide to set up their chairs behind my 63 and when I came over to my car one of the girls has her arm resting on my trunk and I hate when people lean all over my car. So I jumped in the and fired it up and reved it hard. Then I pulled out and parked in another spot. The guys gave me dirty looks and I gave it right back. I was so mad I think I would have fought all 4 of the guys at once even with my cane and all. Its hard for me to clean my car with all my knee and back problems and I dont like people getting it marked up when I put alot of work into it. And people should have rspect for others cars. Ron

I've yet to attend a show that didn't trophy just about everyone but the Charger usually get's more attention than all the cookie cutter Chevelles, 32 Fords, 57 Chebbies and Stangs. People seem to really like seeing something different and a Mopar in itself is different around here.

Man, I love that sticker....... too damn funny. Wish there was somewhere on my car I could put that without it looking tacky.

I hear ya... I would've leaned on their car, OR, squirted her arm with spray-detailer & said "oops, I didn't see your arm leaning on my car. "

I could see that in Ohio. But around NJ/NY, not so. Besides that 95 Caddy, a ratty 80 Camaro also bagged a trophy. Neither of which was in the same universe as my RR, or a 01 Viper GTS. I kid you not.

Yeap, I'm all the time telling my kids "DON'T TOUCH". If it ain't yours don't touch it, people just have know idea how much work goes into these cars or how much it cost. I ran into an old school buddy today at the gas station when he saw my car he said Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa where did you get that badass car "3 years of work" was my answer and yes I'm pretty protective of it for that reason.

Nobody's going to mention the crying little dolls leaning on a bumper. I want to drop kick everyone of them sum b!t@hes I see.

Used to see them, but not anymore. I never knew, WHAT the ... was the reason ???

I stopped going to shows because of that... a thousand white vans with at&t and Comcast stickers are nearly as original...

How bout the guy's that bring their past trophies and display them in front of the car to hopefully impress the Judges??

I was sitting behind my car at a show and I noticed a woman with two kids in tow coming my way. The two kids had their arms out to their sides and were 'bouncing' off the cars with their outstretched hands as they did a loop of each car. I stood up and gave the woman a stare. It was only then that she said something to the kids and took them by the hand.
