Hey guys, the Satellite is up and running with it's new rally gauges. But, it runs very rough. The timing is dead on where it's supposed to be, so now we are trying to adjust the carb. There's just one problem, we don't know what the factory settings are.

Could anybody please give me the factory settings (air/fuel mixture, idle, choke, etc) for the factory Carter 2 bbl carburetor on a 1972 Satellite Sebring with the 318CI V8? Thanks, Michael.

I don't know what the factory settings are but you can get it close pretty easily:
1) Turn both idle mixture screws all the way in until they just seat (don't "tighten" them you'll just cause damage).
2) Turn the mixture screws out 1 and 1/4 turns.
3) Warm the engine. NOTE: The choke must be fully open for the following adjustments so you may have to hold it open)
4a) If you don't have a vacuum gauge slowly turn either screw until you get the highest idle (count the turns) you'lll probably have to adjust your idle speed. Repeat this step with the other screw.
4b) If you have a vacuum gauge follow the same procedure in 4a but adjust for max vacuum (this way is more accurate).
5) With the engine still warm, adjust the choke until it closes then rotate it back until it's fully open.

You may need to fuss with it a little to get where you really want it but this should get you you pretty close.
