Got the new 1/4 skin for the drivers side ( pooched the other one and was not happy ) and just did a rough fit until I get the roof skin finished. I want to keep the factory profile around the wheel well so I will probably replace the skin on the passenger side as well but I do have to tinker with the lower sections. I want to get all the sheetmetal finished so I can get started on the body work.
Well I have been working 7 days a week and lots of evenings after work so no time to work on the car but parts are coming in. Got the rad, shroud, fans, starter and got the motor assembled by a friend except for the intake and carbs, still have to pick it up. The timing is right so I started another motor build. Have a siamese hemi mega block coming and a dyers blower, GRP aluminum rods showed up last night and got a smoken deal on set of stage V big valve heads from FHO. The heads have been fully cnc'd and flow 500 plus. Titanium 2.4 intake valves, titanium 1.9 exhaust valves, light weight titanium retainers, Nextec polished valve springs and some high dollar locking lash cap system ( will get more on this ). The heads were used for one dyno session by FHO for testing new rockers they developed and according to Tim Banning they look brand new. Also Tim will be helping and guiding me with the build so. The blower is an 8-71 Dyers and I will change up to a 14-71 due to the amount of cubes. This build will be a 588" and with the 14-71 I can run lower rpm to reach my goal of 1200-1500 HP and after that we can play with pully sizes and see what happens.
No........momma's ok with two engines but if she see's another car then I'll be in big **** so no stirring up of any hornet nests around here. How's the Dog coming along?
Haven't seen it in months, but work is about to start progressing without me. One way or another, it'll be painted this winter. Starting on the engine rebuild shortly...
Man I don't know how I missed this build! The fabrication you've done is incredible to say the least...any chance of having it on the road this coming season...
Well I haven't posted in a while, have been busy working and have not had a chance to work on the car but I have been buying lots of parts. I got my rad and fans here and the fiberglass bumpers ( not sure if I will use the bumpers ). I had a good talk with Bill from RMS regarding the Alterkation unit and he told me the unit was actually designed for my type of application and morphed into stock application. I have been looking at all possible avenues and after talking with Bill I decided to order one and it will be ready to ship in about three weeks. Bill makes mounts for the upper control arm that I can weld to the frame rails and by using the same shorter mounts for both the front and rear of the control arm it brings the control arm more level and actually gives the suspension better geometry. The complete Wilwood disc brake kit is coming with it as well ( 11" slotted and drilled rotors, 4 piston calipers ). I have also been buying parts for the new 588" blown Hemi which I am going to have the machining, assembly and dyno done by Performance Only in Florida. I have also changed my mind on the color and have had this option on the back burner before I decided on the last color. This has been the hardest part of the whole project. What do you think of my choice.
Well I finally got the Alterkation unit in my hands to the tune of $5900, ouch. I started doing the sub assemblies and found a few things I don't like so I have to change those and I got the short mounting brackets for the upper control arms and they are so thin and not the correct width so I have to make my own and send the ones I got back to RMS.
The brackets are what he makes but they just aren't to my liking along with a couple small things, over all I like this unit but it cost me a bundle due to the exchange, shipping and taxes bringing it across the border. The kit also includes the Willwood disc brake kit with slotted and drilled rotors. The price of hot rodding man and when you are out **** beating on the fords and chevys who really gives a **** about a few extra grand.
Started doing a little install also made new mounting brackets using 3/16 plate and just need to put them on the milling machine and mill out the slots.
