As much as I like my side exit exhaust my car being lowered 2" and me being a country boy it just ain't working out so time for plan B. I don't like the idea of simply dropping 2 pipes under the valence so I'm looking for ideas.

I found this pic online and really like it, yes as much as I hate to I'll be doing more painting.

Any other ideas....... jacking the car back up is out of the question!

I like them too, reminds me of the 68 442 tail pipes. You can always use 70 tail lights lens, they have the back up lights intergraded into them.

Now see this is exactly why I come to you guys with my ideas..... I never knew that about the 70 tail light's, need new lenses anyways and the reverse lights are right where the exhaust needs to be. Thanks for suggesting that, now if I can only score the tail lights. I'm assuming I'd need the buckets and all seeing how there's likely another bucket for the reverse light??

pipes...

Thought I had replied to this, must have not pushed the button... I'm using a 70 RR rear bumper on the Express, my 67 Coronet build, specifically so I can run the exhaust out the back up light holes in the bumper. I saw it on the Texas House of Hotrods "Roadkill" 70 Road Runner, here's some pics...

I like it but the Charger bumper is really high meaning the exhaust would have to be in the trunk but it looks great on yours where the bumper is the bottom. I'm wanting the exhaust level with the bottom edge of the valence or at least I think that's what would look the best.

look at rebootej his build The Long Road to my 74 Satellite Rebuild he used oval exhaust tips from a cuda I think and cut into the valance

70 taillights complete can be had for around $100 a set, they are pretty plentiful.

I like how that looks..

That being said I wouldnt want to do something someone else already did :) , I think I would use a rectangle tip, maybe even custom tig some up out of ss the same shape as the tail lights, just a lot smaller.

but there are plenty of squared shaped tips out there https://www.google.com/search?q=rec...ack+square+exhaust+tips&imgrc=roywHLAH4ztMrM:

In your case the sheet metal work in the valence is the best option. Or maybe something like this..

I will be TIG welding something custom out of stainless for sure, still unsure of the shape but think your right about rectangular. Thinking about doing the same thing I did with my original side exhaust which is a wide rectangle split into 4 openings?

I would open up a picture of the rear of the car in ms paint or what ever program you have that will let you shop the picture, I am thinking either the shape of the taillights or the opposite shape of the tail lights. in other words, make a rounded rectangle complete as if the taillights didnt have the reliefs on the inside lower corners, and use that missing shape as the exhaust..

I would play with it until you come up with something you like then make it out of card board paint it black and stick it to the car to see how it works in person...

Have done this many times, with the hot rads, my is used to looking out the window and seeing my standing away from the car with one eye covered and a duct taped piece of cardboard covering half a headlight, lol..

Are you sure? I've been looking and all the tail lights I find say 1969-1970 and year one shows the little reverse lights that I have for both 1969-1970 plus every picture I find of a 70 Charger looks like mine???

Bahahaha! If it's got the custom Devin touch I'm sure it would still look awesome. Some good ideas and information here !

Or use the factory stock RT tips at the rear.....I've always liked them.

Not quite following the "use the missing shape" part. I do think a longer tip ressembling the tail lights might look cool?

I've always liked playing off of an original part with some tweeking so that might be an option.

No I agree with you, it's a really cool look but does have Porsche written all over it besides there isn't much room for it without mods to the gas tank and rear crossmember. Whatever I do will be where the reverse lights are.

What about Stacks up through the trunk lid? Could even dump that 456 and drop in a Cummins!! Get you Rollin' Coal in no time! lol.

Porsche or the new Vette's instantly come to mind for me when it comes to center exit but when making something your own with your own spin on it could still work. I do like the idea of the reverse lights better though.

Why didn't I think of that! No ground clearance issues at all with stacks.... Mad Max style!

You could run them out the bottom of the rear quarters behind the tires in a body panel flush set of exits shaped however you like.
