Cylinder damage found while stripping new 440 before the machine shop

ive been searching ebay for an hour now with no luck if you have some links for these forged crankshafts for under 200 that would be great.

I didnt say forged. You did. You didn't have a forged one to begin with. A cast one will take 600 HP. Are you gonna make that much?

I said forged and I found him a plethora of them on craigslist in 10 minutes...... you can lead a horse to water lol.....

I have a cast crank for a 440 still standard, should clean up with a polish. Depending where you are in upstate new york its about 3 hrs from here. if you are interested

prolly not gonna make that much somone before you had suggested forged. ya those in syracuse are only like 4 hours from me i'll have to check em out.

If those don't work out, mine will probably be somewhere near $250 shipped to your door. Last time I shipped a crank it was nearly $100.....

I went back and made sure, but I never suggested forged. Have you tried your local Advance Auto Parts? You can probably get a reground one ready to go for less than 200 with bearings.

sorry rusty i knew you didnt suggest forged i confused what you wrote with what somone else wrote. I do have an advance auto parts 20 minutes from me i will give them a call and see what they can get

so for 312.00 advance has a reman #2206160 reground with matching bearings.

Crapamaggot. I got one for my 318 for 162. Dammit. Check with them and see if it's forged.

it is forged i believe i ran the number online. problem is it requires a core and im guessing they are not gonna take my cast crank in return.

i wonder if they will look at the cast number i could cover it with grease or somthing lol. i could try and if they notice say oh sorry nevermind then. really not too bad of a deal im sure it has a warranty as well my machine shop charges 120 for crank regrinding and i would have to buy bearings as well. I am gonna keep looking for a while but could work if they dont notice the cast crank

so I checked advance auto again the reason it shows as a forged crank is because i searched 73 roadrunner 440 which apparently is forged. my engine is a 78 440 i searched that and its 180.00 for the cast crank. I guess I just have to decide which one I would really want.

I'm with Rusty. Get a good cast crank and move on. Put the extra money where it will be noticeable.

it is nearly twice the cost the money definitely could be used elsewhere.I wonder what the quality of the bearings will be from advance auto.
