Did you ever insist you had the lyrics right, but didn't?

No-one will have anything on Bruce Springsteen, as none of his lyrics can be fathomed at all. Guy never moves his mouth at all....must be a ventriloquist.
I used to enjoy listening to his warbling, until I found out he was a Zero supporter. :icon_fU:
Me too.
**** him, and Neil Young

On of my friend's wife once asked- "what's dunderchee"?

During AC-DC's "Dirty Deeds".

When I was little I couldn't figure out what the heck soap had to do with 'one horse soap an sleigh' in Jingle Bells but yeah, still do have problems with understanding what a lot of songs are saying without looking up the lyrics.

A guy named Chuck Spencer and I were on midwatch at Anti-Submarine Warfare Operations Center (ASWOC) Bermuda back in 1987, and for some reason or another I started singing American Pie to myself. I was half humming/half singing it, and Chuck heard me and said I had gotten some words wrong. I told him he was wrong, and we started debating. Our watch officer heard us, and he got in on the debate. Then the three folks in Communications heard us arguing and they got into the debate. Within about 20 minutes, the entire ASWOC was awash in discussion of lyrics to that song.

After we exhausted our expertise, we decided to settle the argument by sending out a SWX message, which was an early form of email, to all the other ASWOCs, and by the end of our watch we had inputs from 11 other ASWOCs around the world, and not a one of us could agree what all the lyrics were. We finally got off, found a record someone had, transcribed the actual lyrics, and that night we sent another SWX with the actual lyrics and the ASW world was able to go back to focusing on hunting commies. :)

My former co-worker (dizzy blonde) was singing in the car to the tune of Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison. She sang, "Hey Rodrigo" instead of "Hey, where did we go?"

Hotel California:

"Her mind is Tiffany Twisted, she's got her Mercedes Bends."

I never understood that the first line in the 2nd verse was this....

"Yeah, I've seen the people that are lookin' for a moonbeam"

.....as it sounds like he's talking with a mouth full of marbles

Ask and ye shall receive.....

Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Fogerty was notorious for slurring his words!

Saw him on a TV documentary and when he was singing "Bad Moon Rising" he made fun of what people thought it was and sang "there's a bathroom on the right" lol

What about when he sings "looking out my back door." Many a parody to that song.

Dylan is another one whose hard to hear. Especially live. I've seen him 3 times and maybe 25% of the time you even know which song he's singing. Lol

Anybody like Johnny Rivers ? Years ago, my son asked me, who's that "Secret Asian Man" he's singing about.

It was many years before I understood the last part of the --All in the family-- theme song.
---"gee our old lasalle ran great"---Those were the days.

As soon as I was told what the words were it was as clear as a bell.:realcrazy:
The mind plays tricks on us.

Another one that escaped me for years was the -next to- the last few words of this jingle.
