guys, have a few questions on what products to use on my motor, this is going in a 70 charger "hot street machine" , might see the track a few times in its life,, I couldn't find an aftermarket block so its going to be a 73' 440 .030 over with the 493 stroker kit. eagle rods, crank and diamond pistions, bds 871, 2 quickfuel e85 750 blower carbs, 9:1 compression with 6-8lbs of boost. I was going to girdle the bottom end and hope it holds together for a while until I can get a world block. anyways was kicking around the idea of the victor heads and hardland sharp rockers, would these be a good fit for this application?? after talking to the a- holes at indy I will never call there again!! any input on the best valvetrain setup for this application? thanks for any input!

I grew up in the 60's talking to people around my neighborhood like Gary Dyer who went pretty fast. He even has a very famous Blower business! I've heard this question a few times and I have to wonder
why anyone would want to spend money on heads that have alot of work done to them to make them flow better! If you put a blower on the motor with eight pounds of boost, you don't need good heads.
You just need to make sure the valve springs close the valves! As soon as the valve opens at all, the cylinder will be pressurised @ eight Lbs. If you use a blower, the engine is always being pressurised,
even when it is idling. Now you have to make sure you can light the mixture at higher RPM. Don't wast your money on expensive heads! Good luck with the project! 70 Chargers are one of my favorites.

with good heads & a blower
they will work even that much better thou....

with e-85 less detonation problems, good for boost,
you possibly can run more initial timing,
then start backing it off later down the track or timing curve

but need a fuel system that can handle the extra fuel
& handle the issues that come with any alcohol based fuels,
seals, alum., fitting, rubber, hoses, oxidation, condensation etc. etc. etc.

valve-train parts depends on whose & what heads you ultimately go with/use
some will need specialized offsets etc. you maybe limited on what brands
I've had great luck with Crane {or Harlan Sharpe} for decades now
& Smith Bros. Pushrods properly sized, proper material {lite is good} & length/style
Manley's {among other brands} stainless {titanium intake would be better}
are good price point valves too, depend son what the end use will be...
I've had great luck with them, I stick with what works & not the newest fad
or some overpriced sales pitch...

get the proper valve-springs, for your cam & RPM's
pref. Titatnium or Moly at a min. retainers & locks

there are so many brands out there to choose from,
just don't buy the cheapest foreign crap,
it's not a good place to skimp on your valve-train stuff

We run my sons 360 sb turbo car on E85. 360 Eddy heads, no inter-cooler, 15lbs. Runs 9.90@138 on drag radials, 3800 lbs, 3.55 gear. For what it's worth my buddy runs a 6-71 blown 440 in a light weight (2900) GTX. with old stage 5 Mopar iron heads on alcohol, Very Mild motor, 5.80@125 in the 1/8, stock block and crank. Both cars are shifted at 6000
