Family Tradition

Many thanks Roger. To say the least, these are not the cheapest thing to get made in the world. Especially just being a cosmetic thing in all. So I really appreciate all the input that everyone is tossing in here. I can stare at it all day long, but it's definitely worth having all you guys throw in your 2 cents at the same time. Without a doubt, you guys made it look 100 times better. I talked with the emblem folks and there's no issue fabricating these emblems. Initial cost up front is hefty for start up, but after that price, it goes way down per emblem. Thinking on getting a few pairs off the bat to at least have a spare set and maybe sell off the other for someone with a '69 and a 512 looking to do the same. Depending how well they do, thinking of venturing off and seeing how a 451, 496, 500, 505 might pan out as well.

Maybe they can make some for my wife's /6 volare. That's funny right there.

Hey Will, i dont have a 512 (yet! lmao) but i would put in a set or two if it will drive the cost down!!!

PM me!

The only thing that doesn't look quite right to me is the bottom right of the 2, I've never seen a 2 that curls back up at the end. Just my 2 cents, it would look fine the way it is anyways. Lookin good

Sooooo I was wonder there Mr Will..Can you put this into a condensed version leaving out the impertinent .... LOL

I'll be needing to refere to it a few times... :)
color pics and narrative.. downloadable file..

Thanks 747 and 99ss....You bet Chris. Going to hit that up shortly down the road.

Posted this over at the HID Conversion thread I put up. Don't know who reads what and where, but just wanted to make sure these pic's of the HID's glaring full bore made it here to Skeletor's thread.

Well...I promised pictures, so here they are....First off, the system works exactly how it's supposed to. No tweaks or changes needed. Very happy with it. I'm actually impressed when switching back and forth from lows-highs, how quick the beams back at full power. Not really any delay in brightness. Just on initial engagement is when you notice a 3-4 second warm up. Second off, HOLY Crap are these things bright!!! People can write articles and praise or pay homage to the Halogen gods all they want, these things blow them away. Still seeing spots trying to write this.

So the Hella lamp housings retain a stock look, settle in the housings great and are quality parts. Lens are glass, housing is metal. Made in Germany.

Low beams.....The picture makes the lights have a little bit more of a blue shine. In person you'd see the Diamond white that the 6000K put out.

Well...the days of old yellow dull light barely lighting up the highway are over....These things will knock your socks off. Picture doesn't capture the intensity, but these pics may give you a good idea how much brightness is coming off the front of the bird with all four on, with the garage lights on and in the middle of the day:

The lights were so bright I thought I was standing at the pearly gates, then the wife threw one of my "shirts" at me. They look great will.

LASERS !!!!
holy cow those are bright..thats so awesome..LOL

dont want to be hittin no deer at night in that car, thats for damn sure

I guess I'm in the minority. I think the 2 still looks sorta off somehow. The 5 and the 1 are perfect.

I figured it out. If you remove the downward curve from the left upper side of the 2, it will look more uniform to the five. In other words, make the 2 a mirror image of the 5.

LOL....

Thanks Fella's..I'm happy with them. Can't wait to actually use them for driving. Again, I was caught by the wife sitting in the roadrunner (with the lights on) driving down that imaginary highway, also known as the backside of my garage door. And again, I received the coveted "Dork"....lol I also told her that although the middle finger I was portraying may have looked like it was intentionally being pointed at her, it was actually at the guy on the imaginary highway that just cut me off.

Thanks for the input RRR....I submitted the 512 to the emblem guys. They have to take the jpeg image, and try to replicate in CAD to mate with the machines software program. Said things may not be perfectly identical, but will submit back to me for approval before moving on. Guess i'll see how that ends up looking, post it on here and go from there.

If you think about it, whatever the font, 5s and 2s are normally mirror images. I was tryin to figure out what looked funny about it and it finally hit me today. It's funny though, in this font, they ain't mirror images. 512 and that <<<<< looks funny to me. Hay, all that's important is what YOU think.

I hear ya! I'm no graphic artist by any means and was starting to get a little impatient dabbling with it. I'd ask here and the fella's at the shop about one revision of the 512, half would say looks perfect, others said fix this or that. Make some changes, now the other half says change it back and ones that recommended the changes says it looks perfect.....lol All the suggestions here are what really shaped it up the most though. Thus far i'm pretty happy with it, but well see what "not quite perfectly identical" means.

All you need now Will is that imaginary cop to pull you over on your imaginary highway so you can give him your imaginary finger.

Lol, Thats a scary scenario Roger that sinister black bird could have a devious influence on him! thinker.gif

Hehehehehe.....Someones gotta keep the boys in blue busy. Last time I got pulled over, the State Trooper was more interested in taking a couple pictures of his Dodge Charger squad having my Coronet pulled over than issuing me any kind of ticket. I think it was a fair trade. Just hoping I can ride that luck out for next time.
