Hey Will I was wondering how you have your car's registered with the wi dot, regular plates collector or hobbyists plates? I'm thinking I want collector plates but web site says car needs to be completely stock

Dam Prop, where you find the time to get this done? Wait, I know, you got a normal job, and spend all your spare time messing with your Family Tradition? Well, I'm comfortable in my speed, wish it was a little faster though...as I blast tons of cars for the restoration mill grind...eventually I'll catch up! lol

Lol that's what I was thinkin of doing

Hey Fella's! Sorry, I've been off the radar for a while (out in the boonies). To answer some of your posts...

Roger/Basket.....(BTW nice looking '72 Karmann Ghia Basketcase)....I could actually see the misses driving something like that. Thus far I've converted her and her brother away from foreign cars, back to american. Now if I can just get her in a souped up little dart or demon my mission will be accomplished. We'll see I guess.

Bud and Ron....Without a doubt, if I didn't live a half a country away from you guys I would be honored to help you out with your rides...You both inspired and helped me in the past and i'd love to pass that gratitude back to you.

68GTX440....Thank you and I'm seriously glad that the story of my bird has inspired you to dust yours off. A fella can't help but grin when another see's his work and say's "i'm gonna do that!" That's what it's all about! Thanks again and very best of luck on you '68. I look forward to swinging in to your thread and watching her come along.

Josh..Still up in the air on the plates. Collector would be nice, but knowing my luck the licence plate police would find me somehow or another. Especially with a 512 badge on the hood. Jay has a good idea though...Some googled Roadrunner may be the one on file with the state for my plates down the road..lol

Donny.....I honestly have no idea where I find the time. I'm guessing I'll be like my old man that always says he's gonna die young cause he lives 30 hours a day..lol I guess a big part of that would be I don't sleep much. 4-5 hours is pretty normal for me. I'd thank Uncle Sam for that quality. Stunning how much time cars and everything around them takes up, and you know that just as much as I do, and then some. At your level (doing it as a profession as the same time), I can't even imagine how you could have all the clients cars to deal with and even find any time to work on your satty or GTX. I'd say, any time to make progress on both your Plymouths would be one hell of a task. Hat's off to ya.

VJ318...Thank you. I'm pretty happy with them as well. Heck of a task to finally get them, but with some help from the folks here and some determination, the RR has it's 512 Badges.

Well.......Found my way home and today was Dyno Day!

You know, Mopar's never cease to amaze me and that's why I love'em. Before I start posting the meat and potato's I wanna just stretch out a thanks to the folks that helped me put this motor together. Folks like RustyRatRod, Meep Meep, Budnicks and lots of other guys took the time to explain stuff and how and why it works. I've played with plenty of motors, but have never dealt with the nitty gritty fine tunes details of the engine dynamics that are the real McCoy of what makes a motor make power. I have learned a ton and I can't thank you guys enough for your priceless knowledge. The biggest thing I have learned, is that a guy doesn't need to go slapping on the highest dollar, biggest baddest head, cam or crazy pistons to make a motor make some serious power. The trick of it all is knowing how everything works and how it will work with each other to produce a healthy motor. If a guy can set down his pocketbook, pride and open his ears to the guys that have been there and done that...well, the payoff is huge. This really became apparent to me while surfing the net looking at all kinds of Dyno sheets from past 512's, 505's, 500's, 496's ect...ect... Seeing what a lot of folks did with pricey massive lift roller cams, sterling silver priced heads, blower dryer comp ratio's and endless other gadgets and doo-dads, it was very positively enlightening to see where my motor sat when I looked at the sheets from the pulls.

So, I surfed the net, asked around and had some folks post on here what they thought the following combination would provide:

512 Stroker-440 Source Forged Rotating Assembly
10:1 Comp Ratio
Comp Cam Mech Flat tappet 250/252@50, .540/.560L 110LSA, 106*CL
Edelbrock Performer RPM 84CC Closed Chamber-Ported 2.14, 1.81 Bowl Work-Valve work
Indy Dual Plane Intake-Port Matched
Quick Fuel Q950
Doug's 2" Headers

So here's what my little bird will be cranking out under the hood:

Dyno Peak.jpg

696 Ft/lbs Torque @ 4000..........632 HP @ 5500

Thinking I should get to church on time...lol Extremely Happy with the results!!! Going off what people guessed on here, guess we all were a bit low. Manitowoc Machine did the Dyno and were absolutely great folks to work with. Top notch!! Dyno Tech said tossing on a decent single plane manifold to replace the dual plane and upgrading the springs could easily grab me 50+ Horse without hesitation, but honestly the horse and torque curve are where I want them for now for a street/strip scenario.

Here's some pic's of the 512 on the dyno and I'm gonna try to upload a couple little video clips as well.

Keep in Mind, I'm no Steven Spielberg...With that being said, hope you enjoy the shotty camera phone vid's of my 512

Cam break in.....Just digging the sound of a Big Block Stroker Mopar idle.........Priceless!

Looks awesome and sounds better than great Will! Big thanks for taking the time to post the pictures and esp the video's. Would be cool to hear what they did for cam break in ... length of time and RPM.

Will, all I can say is WOW!!. Those are awesome numbers. I know you'll be happy with that power after you slip it between the loins of your B body. I'm definatly holding on to your info for my next street rod build. Like you said, Lots of good info and advise on this site.CONGRATS!!!

Wow Will - that is some serious power for a street car. I don't think the extra 50 hp would be worth the expense. You will probably struggle getting the tires to hook up with what you have now. Very, very nice. Thanks for posting the video.

Thanks....Initial cam break in was probably over an hour or so. We had other things to tinker with in the mean time. Reset the valve lash and then checked it again before making the first actual pull. RPM was around 2K

Thanks Mitch! Any of the real specific information you may need, let me know..I have no issue sharing the ingredients to make a mega torq monster

hope you own stock in rubber!

LOL No Doubt! I'm guessing rubber's gonna get pretty pricey for me down the road

Time to consider a stroker motor :)

You bet! Glad I did....

I agree Joel.....trying to keep her feet planted is gonna be hard enough. Gonna stick right where i'm at and go from there

Thanks for the compliments/comments guys! In light of the monster mill that will be going in the bird I believe the car has transformed into "The Wicked Witch of the North"..lol
