Quick pull on the dyno

Props, Awesome !!, now that's music to my ears... congrats on great Dyno numbers, it's always nice to get more than you expected, with plenty more left on the table.... you RR should get down the road quite Acceleratous Rapidious...LOL....

Holy ****! You have 672ftlbs at 3500, what is making off idle!?! This thing is going to be a handful, might want to rethink those drag radials.
Yep, your combo is nothing exotic and makes crazy power and torque. Good job!
Is the rest of the driveline up to the abuse? ha ha ha

Thank Budnicks! I know I've picked your brain in the past on some of the engine details, when trying to put this beast together. I appreciate all the input you gave on it. Obviously turned out quite well.

GPuller...I'll take a look at the first couple pulls where they started at a lower PRM and see where that torque really hit the rafters. Down low she's still pretty nutz. No idea what to run for tires on the street. Any recommendations? Also..a torque converter hitting 3500-3800 sound about right for the torque curve? Gotta order that tomorrow along with the poly lock engine mounts and transmission mounts.

WOW!!! Just had all my workers in watching the video. That car will be totally Badass when your done Will!! Great job!

Tires...is it too late for mini tubs and inboard springs?
Have seen 295/65/15 ET Street Radials on b-bodies like yours. One guy I talked to that was running them said they fit without minitubs or inboard springs, but they are very tight. They are 30" tall and have a section width of 11.9".
His car was in Car Craft a few years ago and I got to talk to him at the Car Craft Summer Nationals in St Paul. Its a sweet ride.
Or you could just run regular 275/60/15 BFG's and let them spin, that way the trans and rear will survive.

Your motor will push the stall up higher a few hundred R's with all the torque that monster is laying down. Plus with that torque you could run 3:23's and be just fine. Personally that's what I would run. When you have 600+ftlbs you wont need deep gears that's for sure.

And yes good engine mounts are going to be a must! ha ha ha

Your very welcome Prop, I'm glad to assist.... What type of tire when you go to the track or pick on the rice rockets in your area ??...LOL... What type of tire are you intending to on her, are you using a racing tire or street tire or a combo tire ??... IMHFO there's not really a good combo tire, you give something up, either handling or traction or wear..... But I found Comp T/A's do "pretty damn well" for handling, if you can find your sizes & some added traction once they're warm, but they are pretty expensive & don't last too long either thou.... But like anything with any soft rubber compound tires..... Drag radials are getting much better, for handling, but they aren't the best for street driving either, anything that has a soft traction compound or soft sidewall, will help to hook it up, but will also wear very fast, regularly street driven, especially at hwy speeds, if you drive around town mostly they don't heat up/wear anywhere near as bad... food for thought... I have a "reworked" 10" 3800rpm stall A-727 {now, with the 479ci combo I currently have} originally it was a 175k Mopar Performance Converter #P4876879AB {similar/like the old MP-J converter, behind Hemi's, but is actually a 10.5" performance converter}, I had an old tranny guy do for me years ago now, I'm going to use with 3.73:1 gears, I had very good luck with that combo, in my other old 68 RR's combo, never had too much issues with the trans getting too hot or slippen' the trans too much, something off the shelf probably wont do, talk to a converter expert, tell them honestly what your intentions are & how you honestly will be using the car, they will usually come up with a custom reworked converter for you... Use a B&M SFI rated neutral balance Round Dual Pattern Flex Plate too {Like $83.95}, the stock flex plate is inferior with the engine torque you have now.... I would also highly suggest you get the book "Torqueflite A-727 Transmission Handbook" author Carl Monroe HPBooks-1399, a wealth of upgrades, tips & knowledge, also if you go with a manual valve body I would highly suggest to get a rear band apply style {I use a Turbo-Action Cheetah w/rear band apply, Forward pattern $220 or so from Mancini Racing, had great luck using them on a couple street/strip High HP/TQ cars now} it will help to save the sprag/overrunning clutch from exploding, especially down shifting, street driving & doing burnouts, you have allot of torque now & needs to be addressed in the trans & drive line areas... Have fun driver her like you stole her.....

I don't no where the island of misfit toys is but if I see a black RR on the street I'll think twice about taunting it "that's awesome". Congrats on doing your homework and having it pay off, sounds wicked. I also love the direction you went with the motor (colors) looks all business without all the shiny chrome. Sweet

I guess I was off a we bit at 547hp & 598 torque:sith:

Dayum! that's a nice motor.....:blob1:

Same here man....Didn't expect that much as well. Kind of a breath of fresh air. Usually building these cars, its usually something like it's more rotten than expected, or costs more, or harder to find parts than thought. Nice to have something go in the right direction.

Thanks man! Hope you enjoyed the vid's. Needless to say I'm no Oliver Stone with screenplay, but glad I was able to get something on film.

Thanks Gpuller! Think i'm past the point of modifications for the rear. Good news is the guts in the rear are Detroit Locker, Strange Engineering, Green and upgraded to a 1350 pinion, so i'm hoping all of that is up to the task. Guess i'll have to see how bad of a tornado on a rollerskate she's gonna be with the rubber on back and do some serious thinking. 3.91's back there right now. I've tried to prepare for everything, but hindsight is always 20/20.

Thanks for all the great info budnicks!! Always coming through man. I'll take your advice and make some calls on the converter tomorrow. The flexplate I got from 440 source looks like the B&M ones you have above. Hoping that should cut the bacon. Great info on the tires. Once my wilted, dead, broken money tree in the back 40 finds some life again, i'd like to have another set of Drag Radials mounted on another set of rims (going off of what you, Gpuller and Charger360 had to say). Ordered the book tonight off Amazon. Thanks again!

LOL....Island of Misfit Toys is off the coast of Half Nuts, surrounded by The Sea of Debt. Your a mopar guy restoring his own ride, so i'm sure you can't live that far away at all. Don't worry about me picking any drags with yourself and my fellow mopar brothers. I'll be spending most of my time chewing on Fords, GM's and foreign jalopies. Thanks for the compliment on the motor...I honestly think subtlety holds it's own flare. I do enjoy looking under the hood and seeing a well dressed engine compartment and the thought and craftsmanship that goes with it, but with my bird I was going for all the flash and bling of the engine to be seen rolling off the rear tires.

Absolutely impressive, I've been following this thread for a quite a while and I am amazed at the quality and time you've put into your car. Can't wait to see the vid of it driving down the road.

Hats off to you sir :hatwave:

Will, the sound of that motor is just awesome. You've put a lot of research into it, and it has paid back 1000 folds. If anybody is dumb enough to try and go up against you and your bird, well, they get what they deserve. Can't wait to hear what it sounds like when you get it hooked up to a full exhaust. The BIG/little unveiling has to be getting closer.

Much obliged 440+6..Thank you.

Hey appreciate it Roger...Shooting for next month to be on the road if all goes well. Got a week of vacation in the middle of the June, just to work on the bird. Ordered my Torque Converter today from PTC.....Talked with Tim, absolutely great guy/company to deal with. She's getting close buddy!

Man, what a cool thread!!

Thanks Cranky! And thanks for helping me out on some of the motor questions I had, back when I was trying to put together a witches brew for the 512.

WOW, holy **** that's amazing. Can't wait for more vids. Great numbers, awesome build. Saved the specs you posted, if I ever get the money tree to bloom I'll be contacting you for more info. Congrats!!! Eagerly awaiting more video :headbang:
