I remember when the GII came out...I think I still have the FLYING magazine article. With 11,000 pound thrust engines, they remarked that it was 'magnificently overpowered'.

When I was a teen, I would drool over a Rockwell Aero Commander 690. For me, that was the epitome of looks and style, especially with club seating. Low to the ground and sleek.

Unfortunately, the twin Commander production ended after Chrysler bought them out in 1985.

When I was a kid I went to the Reading air show in Pennsylvania, this was my first airshow. I remember seeing this aircraft flying the pilot was non other than leganary Bob Hoover .Amazing to see this aircraft perform loops,8 point barrell rolls and with one engine off !!

Yup, Bob Hoover in the 680 "Shrike" Commander. Commanders are Ted Smith designs Who also is Aerostars and Smith was a designer on my Pinnacle favorite, the Martin B-26 Marauda'.........mispell intentional to add a little Brooklyn accent to the street fighter...
..a bomber that could mix it up big in dogfights. The early short wing, wing loading was 54 lbs per sq ft.
