For the first time ever, I decided to completely fill the tank in my 77 Cordoba. The massive 26 gallon tank is pretty expensive to fill, so I rarely do it..usually only putting in a few bucks at a time here and there.

I filled the tank and parked the car in the garage for the night. When I opened the door the next morning I was struck by a very strong gas smell. I immediately opened the garage doors to air out the area. I searched the 'doba up and down, and didn't see any leaks anywhere at all...but the smell persisted. I took the car out and drove it until I burned out a good bit of the gas. The smell went away and ever since I've never filled it up again.

What could have caused this? I'm thinking maybe some kind of vent is clogged? maybe a new gas cap would help? Any ideas?

Time to lay off the cheap gas station burrito's eh????

J/K... Fill the tank back up and look for the leaks (use a flashlight-not a lighter).
Maybe when she's full it puke's out a bit from the vent? It doesn't take much gasoline to stink up a room. Plus it evaporates so quickly compared to other liquids, might be tough to spot after sitting over night.

Good luck to ya.
