I need to remove my instrument cluster and radio to have repaired. I have 69 superbee and decided to shut it down early to work on these and other minor issues. would ask the forum how hard to remove these items and any recommendations on where to have work done. your help is greatly appreciated. thank you in advance.

Its not too tough to pull them yourself sir, just make sure that the battery is disconnected, speedo line is off ect. I've pulled mine about 9 times over the years and have learned to make sure to account for the positions of the wires and clips ect ........I have the manual and it makes it a bit easier....

thank you d25. going to start over wknd. any reputable vendors known to have the work done

......after you get into it, you'll see what I mean.....just make sure you have a cover over the steering column when you start to pull it out...as not to scratch it.

again thank you for input. may go down to library to find manual. any vendors recommended for rebuild?

thank you clemul. will check them out shortly.

thank you 440+6. that will save me a library card

there is a round connector on the circuit board. The board has several small pins sticking out, and easy to break off. Take care pulling the plug off, and the rest is pretty easy.

you guys are great! thanks basket case. you guys must have done this numerous times. glad I joined, B-BODIES!

Remove the steering column bolts underneath it. It drops the column a little bit to give some much needed clearance.

One thing I like to do is take pictures with my phone of what I am going to take apart, it helps for later reference.

Instrument Specialties great for gauge rebuild:

I agree. This is where I am having my gauges rebuilt. Warning: They are NOT cheap though. It turned out to cost way more to convert my tick tock tach to quartz movement and clean up the faces than it was to buy a brand new reproduction unit. So I will put my original on a shelf and keep it in case I ever want to go back.

As also stated, take lots of pictures too. I also labeled each wire, and then took pictures of the label and wire as I pulled it off. Yes, it takes a few more minutes while you are taking the cluster out, and you with thank yourself for doing it when it all goes back in...

Good luck!

Instrument Specialties can do a radio rebuild - conversion to AM/FM - but again, it is definitely not cheap.
