help me achieve 600hp,here is what I have 400 based 470 c.i.short block 11.2 comp with my bowlblended 5 angle valve job 80cc eddy rpms, harland sharp 1.5 rockers, milidon deep pan and windage tray.2 inch headman headers,850 quick fuel carb.

lots of money .:headbang:

Thats not near 600 hp yet.

470 inches at 1.25 hp per cube isnt that difficult nor unheard these days and would be close enough to 600hp at the crank im sure.

Right intake, cam, carb and exhaust Im sure an eddie headed 470 inch motor can do it.....

I'm sure that's realistic. I was referring to the fact that he didn't have a can, intake or carb. Just my sense of humor.

will get valve springs to match cam,i just thought someone here has already been down this road and could give some good advice, thanks for the replys.

You will need every bit of those heads to make 600hp. You will need a cam .600 lift. Engines are air pumps. If you have a HP number you want to achieve, determine the amount of air needed to achieve that number. Then build off of of that.

Do you know what the heads flow ? My 493 is only 10.6 comp as it runs on 92 pump plus I built quench in it. I only use an 850 DP carb and it makes right around 600 flywheel hp to puch my 3700 lb 63 to 10.70's. I use the Indy dual plane intake since I drive it on the street most of the time but I am sure I could make more hp with a single plane and a dominator. I called Dwayne Porter for my cam and had him spec a solid flat tappet to work with my combo and I am very happy with it. I also bought the basic Indy EZ heads from him which are about the same as the Eddy RPM heads. You can click the link in my sig and go down near the bottom to the December 2011 update as it has most of my engines info. If you would want Dwanye Porters number just PM or email me. He is very good with cams and heads. Good luck as you should be able to get 600 hp out of that. Ron

You have a realistic goal. If I calculate your goal per CI, and multiply it by my 512 cubes, it would put me at 653. I'm at 646 and didn't go too radical on the cam, and have about 0.6 less on compression ratio than you.

My combination:
512 cubic inches, 10.6 CR
Mopar stage VI heads ported (this is where you will need to spend some money to get the HP)
Ported head flow numbers.png

Hughes solid flat tapper camshaft HTL5660BS3 with Hughes lifters and valve springs
Edelbrock Victor single plane intake
Quick Fuel 850 carb
Comp Cams Stainless Roller Tip Rockers (PN 1621-16) 1.5 ratio
Mancini block girdle
Melling HV oil pump
Milodon 7qt pan
FBO ignition system

It dynoed at 646 HP 677 torque and idled at 800 without issue....could probably go a little lower. The vacuum is too low to run power brakes with that cam. I haven't dropped it into the car yet, so I can't tell you it's street manners.

If you end up short just put a very small plate kit on it and call it a day. I prefer a milder motor with a little plate kit on it if im gonna drive the car more.

Thats some nice dyno numbers. What are the specs on that cam if you dont mind me asking ? My EZ heads flowed 329 @ .600 on the intake and the Exh was about 223. Never dynoed my eng but by the et , mph and weight of my 63 it should be around 600 flywheel hp out of my 493. What car do you plan to put that eng in ? Ron

Eddies website says 291/217 for flow numbers. Im sure the bowl blend will help his lower lift numbers compared to out of the box numbers but not sure about peak flow. I just screw engines together I dont engineer them.
