Golden Goddess heart surgery

Driver side was a fight only because of having to go through the bottom. So I got to enjoy “Jack ballet” for a few days. Finally got the header in place, and I’m very pleased it only kisses the steering column

Dont want to piss on yer win, but stock rubber mounts? They'll probably let the motor move up and down so that header may bang the steering shaft. Food fer thought

Driver side is one of the Mancini racing ones with the bolt through it, hopefully it doesn’t allow too much movement.

well unfortunately it took all day, and all my energy, but the driver header is now home, and it looks great with headers

You may want to give that tube a little thump. Mark the area, pull the column out, thump some clearance in, push column back in. A little more air gap so the seal in the column doesn't cook and lessen the rub possibility when the engine moves around.

That’s what took all day, the Jack ballet in 110 degree heat, the header shuffle in and out, there’s plenty of room now

See how much progress you made. Sooner than you think you will be blasting down the road with a huge smile and laughing. Progress is progress. Looking good .

Seeing what you have makes want to check that area on mine the next time I have the engine/trans back in for fit checks. I need to get the coupler switched to the BAC unit anyway. Check that too before I get the headers coated.

I probably should have addressed the area near the steering box, it’ll probably hit under acceleration, but those are the only 2 places it hit on the driver side. The passenger side was more of a pia, right in the torsion bar area. These are hooker competitions 5903,. The biggest gripe is they put “classic” on them instead of competition like the pre Holley buy out, or what ever made them change it

(Pictures make it worse then it is)

I have Hedman headers on the Charger and only had to clearance some for the minI starter. But mine is a 400 b block not a tall deck. Right side is snug because this was a 318 car. You are moving along and just keep thinking about blasting down the street.

And today I started the tearing it down. I have a messed up back from a car wreck, so between that and weather, it may not look like a lot gets done.

Up on Jackstands

Gross oily every where!

Drive shaft is out.

Most of the accessories and wiring disconnected, and I think that’s it for tonight.

Is that the original body color,do you know what It is looks sorta like Spanish gold thanks

I’ve been working on a lot of little things that are hard to take pictures of. One of the things, turns out when the engine is in its spot, the clearance you thought was good enough for the header at the torsion bar for the header changes on the passenger side. Easier to remove the bar than the header. When the car was aligned, it sat waaay higher on the passenger side, when I laid bar down I noticed it was bent. So I guess eventually I need to replace the bars

Well fecal matter. Kern dog sent me both of the brackets, but he couldn’t remember which one came off a 440. I greatly appreciate the kindness. However, I’m not seeing how either one of these fits

Ah ha, it goes to the motor mount! So for future reference, anyone trying to put together an ac/ power steering alternator bracket together, it goes like this
