Black person say whaaaaatttttt?!

Are you getting full stroke of the brake pedal?

That’s the only thing I can think could be the problem, especially with the pedal sitting so low. But idk how to fix that

The booster has an adjustable pushrod. It fits between the master cylinder piston and the booster diaphragm inside the housing. Remove the master cylinder and you’ll find something like this.

There is a threaded nub in the end.

That can and often does determine the pedal height. If you set that out too far, the brakes will always be slightly engaged and will drag. The truck for us bonehead guys is to adjust, test, adjust until you get the e right feel.

Of the 10-11 boosters I have here, 4 have no master cylinder on them. The pushrod nubs….They are all out a different amount….

They were all probably adjusted to each car.
These were pulled from parted out cars except the gold one. That came from Dwayne’s car. I had to replace it and the new one…..

….had to be adjusted to get the right height and feel.

Well after many adjustments, and lots of trials I think I finally have brakes!

I had to go feed my buddies dog while he was out of town. So what I did was go back and forth in my yard making adjustments until it felt good. Drove their and they felt ok, so I made 1 more adjustment, left his house tires spinning, got up to 60 and then coasted to see if they were dragging, I was able to go 3/10 of a mile before a car was coming and had to stop. Hit the brakes a few times and then started smelling them so I gently drove it home

Sundays are usually pretty busy, but I squeezed some time in for some small things.

First up, half of the window cranks are broken, so I replaced the front two with some awesome 70s Cal custom cranks. They were cheaper and really better looking then any factory ones I could find

And then the shifter was feeling sloppy, just as I suspected, the “it’ll be fine without a lock washer for now, I’ll fix it later” nuts holding the shifter were loose.

Kind of reminds me of this...

I’m calling the brakes fixed and DONE! I had the booster rod adjusted just a tad too much, so I backed it off and after a couple mile drive to work no hot brakes, no crappy brakes! the shifter actually bolted and the brakes working, she’s so much fun and stress free to drive!
