I live in an older house that has hardwood floors, I wanted to refinish them but somebody already tried to do it and did not do a very good job. So I installed new 3/4 oak over top of the old messed up floor. The new 3/4 oak comes with 6 coats of urethane and 2 coats of zinc on it, it is beautiful and easy to maintain. They had linoleum in the kitchen and then when I moved in I put Pergo wood over top. That was fine for many years until we remodeled the kitchen. Removed many layers of flooring, I believe around 6 or 7 and took it down to the wood sub floor. There was even one layer that still had wet adhesive under it due to being the wrong type of flooring adhesive. Replaced with the Congoleum luxury vinyl flooring, it is water proof and pet proof and has a cork underlayment which makes it very comfortable to walk on. All it takes is one good plumbing issue in the kitchen and depending on what flooring you have it can be a disaster, like the bamboo flooring. My girlfriend has ceramic tile in her kitchen and we re planning to remodel her kitchen next and she wants that flooring. She says walking on that hard floor gets to your back, and all the grout makes the floor harder to clean. I want to replace the carpet downstairs with this stuff eventually.
