My personal opinion wasn't to "insult" the owner of the car. It's just based on my personal taste in design and that's all. I often type what I feel, without a filter. If the owner of the car was offended, I will apologize and we can move on like adults. Like America, this forum is comprised of enthusiasts from all walks of life, certain likes and dislikes, etc. We can all agree to disagree on certain subjects, opinions etc. That's what makes America and hobbies like this great. I happen to think that the second generation Charger could be the best looking car of the muscle car era. With all of it's sweeping body lines, etc. However, on the car in question, when you remove the top a lot of those lines seem to get lost and that is the basis for my personal opinion.........
I'm not offended,I built the car for myself, and it's been a blast showing, and driving the car. It has all the cool things Chargers have, and it's a convertible too. As I said before,I have 5 other Chargers with the standard buttress roof, one has a factory hole in it,that can be opened and closed via an electric mtor, the other one has a flush back window,so I have plenty of standard roof second generation Chargers to look at and enjoy, just as everyone did not order a convertible Mopar new, thats why they are so rare, convertibles are not for everyone. But driving one that is also a Charger,is something very few will ever experience. It's a fun car. Considering that I took two rusted and damaged New England cars, that probably both would have been scrapped, because there was no decent aftermarket sheetmetal for either car in 1995 when I cut the two rust buckets apart and made what you see here out of the two of them,I am very happy with the results. I had planned to build this car ten years before I did,but I didn't want to cut up any cars that could have been restored. There was no AMD,no OEM style reproduction sheetmetal, and many cars in NEW England that can be saved now, were parted out back then. The Charger donor needed almost every panel that AMD sells, and a large tree branch had fallen on the rotted white vynal top covered roof, damaging the structure. The convertible was so rusted that when the ramp truck picked it up the rear frame rails were crumbling, and as I followed the ramp truck,in my Ramcharger,I had to put the windshield wipers on because of the rust and debris flying from the car that had sat neglected, rotting into the ground for decades.
