Have you ever found a dead body?

Only one. Around summer 1993 worked 2nd shift. Coming home from being out with co-workers afterwards, driving a 66 Coronet 383 4spd I just happened to take to work to show to a co-worker. I was the 2nd car behind a pickup that didnt move when the light turned green. Finally he took off like it was a drag race and hit a telephone pole about 1/8 mile later. He somehow got out and ran when he saw his girlfriend laying in the street. Sounded like a bomb went off. Apparently she went through the windshield and must have broken her neck. I was looking at her face down, no breathing. Strangest thing, not a cut on her or bleeding anywhere. A minute later the cops swarmed the place and roped and draped it off. I stayed on scene til the sun came up.

I was at the hospital when both of my parents died....7 years apart. Of course that's a little different. But I never have come across a dead body and I hope that I never do.

On the job and way too many!

In September of 2018 I had a near death experience. It was like the lights were turned out.
It always amazes me. Death. There is no fanfare. No parade. No nothing. One minute you are here
and the next you are gone.
Been there four times myself. You're correct - it ain't nothing like they show on TV.
...oh, and it hurts like **** all, too.

Mid 80's. Walking to get lunch one summer day with a coworker. Came across something "strange" just off the sidewalk, in the brush, on a somewhat deserted industrial street. Mostly covered with a towel or something like that. I thought it was a body, coworker said "no way". Flipped the towel with a stick to reveal a decapitated torso. Arms were taken at the shoulders and the legs below the knees. Body parts were found further off the sidewalk deeper in the brush. NYPD asked us for cardboard boxes for the parts they found scattered in the bushes. Was discussed it was probably a drug hit but we never found out for sure. Pretty messed up find for a 20 year old.

Hmmm....aside from war only two. One was identifying my Dads body at the funeral home. The other was a Lieutenant that was a good friend who had just seconds before been killed in the front seat of his Apache chopper when the transmission separated from the main rotor shaft and the blades swung down slicing the cockpits open and smacking his helmeted head from zero to whatever, instantly breaking his neck. The command pilot in the back seat survived but never flew again. I was 60 feet away and looking right it them when it blew up and went wonky. Threw parts and pieces for 500 feet in every direction including a large chunk of rotor blade that zinged by me and imbedded itself in the hanger door behind me. I was the second person to reach the smoking wreck only because my crew chief was a 20 year old and ran faster than me. I dragged the back seater out and he shut down the engines that were still running before they also blew to kingdom come or detonated other choppers sitting on the tarmac on both sides. We left the LT where he was, after I had checked for his pulse at his neck, despite seeing his head at an unnatural angle. Not a fun day, nor a fun week afterwards with all the inspections and questions and bullshit such an incident generates in the military. The only positive thing to that event was that for me, it came AFTER surviving combat, rather than before. I was somewhat inured to death by then. Sadly.

Sadly more then one, this endless war against drugs has bring to my country nothing more that dead and sorrow, specifically two dead bodies on the side of the road that usually take to work, and the body of the husband of my wife sister.

Does this count?

Does killing the dead person count? Asking for a friend.

Car accidents. A young couple were T-boned in a 68 Camaro by a 70s something trans am at well over 70 MPH. Only 6" space between the doors. I knew anyone would be dead. They were smashed together. But very little blood. Died instantly.

I was on a bus going to school and traffic was very slow on the highway we were on. Passed right beside a man's body, his innards were all around him. Looked as though he tried to run across the highway and got hit. Happened 37 years ago and still clear as a bell.

Luckily, no humans but I found my precious dog motionless one morning. Spend the day giving him a proper burial.

My mom and Dad used to manage apartments. One day one of the residents reported a bad smell. My Mom discovered the body.

NO but many years back I drove by a truck that was parked in a entry to a farm field for 2 days thought the guy got there early and was hunting.. Then after 2 days of sitting there someone checked it out and he had taken his young son there killed him then killed himself inside that truck...So there was 2 dead bodies sitting there for about 30hrs.. He was going through a separation and custody battle..
