Samaritans Purse. Donate. Do SOMETHING. Those poor Bastards. You can use PayPal. Simple.
I just made my largest donation to charity ever to Samaritan's Purse. I couldn't find a more efficient and accountable charity than SP. I wish I could help more.

Thank you, Dennis, for recommending them.

The stories are coming out more and more about just how grave the circumstances are for the folks in that neck of the woods. So, please help any way that you can.

Been reading and watching , pretty much at a loss for words.
All of you guys having to deal with this storm and aftermath have my prayers and support.
1993 much of the midwest was hit by a horrible flood that seemed to go on for a year. It took a long time for things to get somewhat back to normal.
Many thoughts and prayers for those lost and their families.

I was a kid when I experienced a flood like this. I got safely to home before the wall of debris came through town. 8 inches of rain in four hours in hilly country leaving 238 people dead. There were many heroes that night and some who perished in their efforts to save family and neighbors. Since I was young, I don't have much in the way of advice. There will be a lot of work, the shots we lined up for made me sore, and that mud really stinks. I don't know much about non-profits, but the Salvation Army was there the next day with food, water, clothes, and bedding. Helene is such a large area, the relief logistics must be astounding. One thing: Don't let anyone bulldoze your house unless you think it best.

Samaritans Purse Choppers fly where FEMA can’t or won’t. Donate. I’m diverting my 10% Tithe for now.

Thats just what 'they' are admitting; the real numbers are most likely closer to adding another digit on that...:(
There's literally still hundreds missing/unaccounted for - some of which will never be found, sadly.
Federal response has been laughable; volunteer and charitable organizations continue to be the
main thrust of the relief effort and CSX is down in the affected areas along their rail line, rebuilding
not only the railroad but the adjoining roadways as well.

As much as the government response has been disgusting, all the charitable work has been amazing.

I saw those allegations on fox and they offered zero proof. That's not uncommon, they rarely do, so can you prove any of it? The Tennessean has no reporting of these things.

Well, other than photographic proof, area resident reporting, reports from people trying to help, independent journalism/journalist, local government, video from locals and simple logic, gee...guess you cant prove it...
'traditional' /"mainstream" / "legacy media" have been going way out of their way to NOT report.

I blame Fox. And, the Republicans.

Again, lots of claims, zero proof. The biggest paper in TN has none of this. Looking at the FEMA website, there are many ways to get help.

and FEMA has done SO much to help....right.

right

FEMA gives additional assistance... those bastards

Residents earlier reported that if they checked a box in the FEMA application stating that they have Insurance of any kind, they were automatically denied. When asked, FEMA said they would fix it. Guess they are all lying. Just try to fill out a form.

As someone who has been knee deep in some of the regional efforts, I can speak somewhat as to what
agencies have been involved and to what extent, so yeah....
Better yet though, I challenge you to go get muddy and freeze your arse off by going through western NC
or parts of the other affected states (including my own - we're only an hour away from some of the worst
damages).

No, perhaps best yet - spend an hour researching what those actually affected are reporting, showing, saying...
they can fill your ears if you like.
What I specifically recommend you don't do is rely on the usual leftist "news" organizations (like the Tennessean,
which is unapologetically left) or self-serving federal agencies (like FEMA, whose leader famously told folks they
didn't have any budget left to help at one point).

There are actual by-God MIRACLES happening down there still to this day; some charitable groups have basically
dropped everything and live down in affected areas full-time now, rendering aid 24/7.
Local and state efforts are there too - but the feds? Dog and pony show....

The people there and the organizations actually working down there know.
You don't.

When the flood came through here, a 1,000 sq ft welding shop with corrugated tin walls and roof was washed away. The man jumped through the hoops and got a $1 million loan at 1% interest. He built a nice shop on higher ground and was in business until he retired. FEMA can't force people to work in their own self interest.
