Help me SHUT THESE DOGS UP!!!

Man, I wish you ALL could bemy neighbors. Either we'd get along real well o its be a hell of a time with a plethera of redneck remidies being performed! I'd bet we'd get along more than anything tho.
I do love the propane cannon tho. My buddy has 1 out as his farm that could be easlily obtained.
As far as other neighbors jumping on the bandwagon and complaining, 2 of our other neighbors have called also. Unfotunatly 1 of them just moved away in the last week or so. So unfortunate because the guy & I got along real well. He is a retired vet & an old "bootlegger". He told some AWESOME stories of that era. He also had some ingenious remidies.
My wife had to remind me that these people have been living there longer than I care to remember. They moved in last spring and last summer was SICKENING being in he back yard. She called in several times and even held the phone up to the fence for approx 20 min for them to hear. Police also came & sat in driveway & listened for extended period of time. I believe the people were told once by Police to try & keep the barking down. So now after approx 30 min of barking the 1 lady sticks her head out the door, yells at the dogs to come in and when they don't she says "you stupid dogs!" And slamms the door closed. Very affective.
So the regimante of daily or hurly calling will begin again I sopose, unless certain treats solve the problem. Although I do have to say I. Like the strobe light idea and the firecracker one really gets me thinking, can I use m80s? Lol.
As always, THANKS GUYS!!

if it were me , and it has been, I would pull my car up next to fence with uncorked headers. every time the dogs came out by the fence, I would fire it up and give it few 5,000 rpm free revs boy did it scare the **** out of them. from then on , every time the dogs saw or heard the car , they would run and hide under their porch. their owners finally realized that everytime they let their dogs bark, they were going to get a dose of an open header 440

Talking with your neighbor or complaining to the authorities will do absolutely nothing but create an enemy out of the folks next door. You know what has to be done. Do it and keep quiet about it. Sympathize with the dog owner afterward.
Lol, hell yea! But then they'd probably buy more.
I did however post an anonymous ad on craigslist for free dogs with their address. Seems like there was a lot of traffic in their coulasac that day & the next morning, flagged soon afterward. I guess that didn't work either, funny tho.

How about a microphone to pick up the dog barking amplified by about a factor of 10 through an amplifier and blasted back toward your neighbors house through some of type ghetto blaster speakers? When they get tired of the house vibrating, they may do something about the dogs.

My thoughts exactly.

I have two dogs and they tend to bark at people walking by, not all the time but sometimes. Neighbors who know them, just call them by name and tell them to be quiet or just say "hi" to them and they quiet right down. So, maybe if you learned the names of your neighbors dogs, you could do the same thing. Might work, might not. As a side note, I'm kind of surprised the chihauhaus haven't become snacks for the pit bull.
Satellite66 is dead on track with both of his posts, (but I do appreciate the devilish ones). I live on 2.5 acres and my neighbor has 6 German Shepherds. I went through the combat phase for about 2 years (contemplated 30.06 training from 50 Yards) then just decided to get to know them, throw them real treats once and a while and now they listen to me more than the real owners. Worth a shot.

That's a pretty good idea.

I'm not one to do what I think you're talking about.

Tried that with my straight piped V6 Dakota. Nastiest sound you've heard! lol The response I got was from the guy's wife and she said "all you are doing is bothering my kids". I'm like huh? If I'm bothering your kids, what the hell are the dogs doing?? Shut them the hell up and I'll quit bothering your kids. That's didn't work either.

I tried that...they just called the cops on me.

Hell, the more I tried to be friendly, the more aggressive they were and then the owners came out and wanted to know what the hell I was trying to do. Some people only understand one thing and that's when they have to start paying fines....

Perhaps shoot the owners?

Wedgie, that sounds like the voice of experience talking.

Hey, I have a couple huge outdoor PA speakers with that 400 watt amp, the amp has a microphone jack so that would work very well. Might even cause the dogs to piss themselves! When its not raining I just might do that.

my thoughts exactly too, fight fire with fire... I've had those issues in the past too, I know it's really trying/frustrating... But now after saying that... I also say go over & have a serious talk with your neighbor... be reasonable 1st.... don't try to make it a pissing contest, or get everyone in an uproar... try to reason & be nice 1st.... but that might not work now, it sounds like you have a serious animosity with the new neighbors already... also throwing stuff over the fence with hot sauce or Cayenne pepper/sauce on or in it, it's not going to befriend the dogs either, it's more likely just going to piss them off even more... it's also illegal, if your caught... poisoning the animals or killing/shooting them you could serve jail time for, pay a hefty fine, especially if your the only one complaining, the authorities they will come after you 1st or making an enemy of your new neighbors, it's not any way to start a relationship with new neighbors, you will have to live with them allot longer than the dogs... it sounds like they have their hands full with kids & dogs... that's still no excuse for them to let the animals bark constantly... but also "a little sugar goes allot, farther than vinegar", to have a good relationship with the animals or humans next-door... Goose69, how about trying to befriend the dogs, talk baby talk to them, in a soft sweet voice, not yelling or loud, find out the dogs names, then call them by name, crouch down, be calm, don't be stressed or pissed, while your doing it they can sense when they are being threatened, don't antagonize the animals & they will act accordingly.... then if after all that, it doesn't work out, then get the authorities or a lawyer involved, some people are just not the type to be reasonable, until pushed, try to be the better man 1st... not knowing all/ both sides of the story, we can only go by what your telling us, not that I think your not telling us the truth, but it also sounds like your already really emotional about it... keep your wits about you, don't let the dogs get the better of you... it's the damn humans fault, 1st & foremost, they are the ones raising these animals... Good luck, sound like you will need it...

A little extreme on the old rod bolts just for some dogs don't ya think? lol

buy a dog whistle too, blow it when you 1st walk out side, sometimes that will work too...

Above all, whatever you decide to do, keep in mind that the animals are not at fault. The owners are.

I have been training dogs for over 25 years. Yelling wont help it just makes them think you are a threat. Hitting or beating will get up bit, I think if you beat a dog you need a beat down. Killing a dog that is healthy and not violent is just plain wrong. Making them fearful is not the answer a dog that is skitish is much more likely to attack. Throwing food over the fence with tobasco, pepper or anything else wont do a damn thing because the dog does not know why they are not feeling good. As a matter of fact dogs care why they dont feel right. You have to get to know the dogs. Ask the owners if they mind if you give them treats. That way the dogs will get to know you. Do not give them the treats when they are barking. You should always stay calm and act like you are in control, they will think you are the leader. All dogs are looking for structure even if they dont know it. They are social and very intelligent. Most dogs have the abilty to learn no matter how old of untrained they are. If the neighbors wont let you give them treats and get to know them then the above mentioned bark controller will do the job. I recomended it to a few people with great results. I told my vet about this because the dogs that have to stay because of illness or because they are boarded get so stressed out by all the yipping. They got one and now the dogs barely bark and Im sure they are a lot less stressed. For the price of the unit I know it is well worth the investment. A dog is only as smart as it's owner. I would rather hang out with dogs then most dog owners. I hope you get this resolved in a peaceful manner. If you both own your homes you are going to be neighbors a long time. It sucks to have a neighbor that could give two shits about you and your property. Good Luck>

could give this a try....

allegedly it's guaranteed. and it will save you the guilt of killing them.

I completely agree. My lab doesn't bark one bit and is very well manored. Even while the other dogs are barking up a storm she just looks at me and gives a couple wines. Sweet dog. Stays at me side always and tries to ignore the dog.
I have tried talking with the owners and upon learning their dog was used for fighting and when my little girl is by the chin link fence & the dog is visciously brking his head off snapping his teeth I'm feeling pretty uneasy. They leave the dogs unattended through the day so my kids have to stay away from that fence line. I had better success with the previous people and their german sheppard. We became friends with time but the neighbor was better to work with. These neighbors sit inside all the time and yell at the dogs. It is unfortunate for the dogs but if they or the city won't do anything....
Talked with the wife and we're going to take it up with the actual owners of the house, apparently these people are just renters from what she said. I thought they bought the place. I do own mine so I hope that gives me some pull.

I had this problem also. I just called the cops every night explaining that the dogs are barking next door maybe a criminal is breaking in. Eventually the cops were out so many times they fined the neighbors and they had to go to court. Long story short the dogs got really quiet. It reallly does suck but you have to get somebody involved that your neighbors respect a little. With animal control you can also file a complaint and they wil also have to go court.
