How dumb are we getting? Really?

Back to working in a shop...I worked at a garage right at the end of a major highway. It was the end/beginning whichever way you were traveling and people were always stopping in and asking for directions. The owner would say to them "If you didn't know where you were going when you left home, why did you leave home?" I told him one of these days you're going to say that to the wrong person. He didn't care, he was tired of dealing with dumb people. I saw him walk a person out to the curb and point up and down the street and tell them where they were! He was a hoot.

Not to smear anyone's job, in my opinion stupid people pay people to change their oil.
People need to be more self sufficient, that's not gonna happen after most tech was taken out of schools. My 5 year old daughter probably knows more about vehicles than most adults, sad.

Back in the 70s I worked at MODoT. One night I'm in a rest area in my truck (yellow, big sign on the door) and a guy pulls up next to me and asks if I worked for the highway department. For some reason that night I had 3 or 4 people ask me that, so I gave this guy some static.
I told him I didnt work for the highway department, they were nice enough to give me the truck.
The guy gave a blank stare for a minute and asked for directions. I told him what he needed and he was on his way.
I like to think he realized it was a stupid question.

I don't know how dumb I am for not reading every post. I do have a bachelor's and a master's degrees in two different disciplines. When it comes to B Body stuff you guys certainly know more than me.

Just goes to show you that "Educated" doesn't necessarily mean "Smart", "Intelligent", or "Experienced".
