six speeds are sexy goon. and can handle that 522 monster mopar power. kinda like it was built.....wait for it.........FER RACIN"

Refresh my memory, what did you buy for a 6 speed?

- - - Updated - - -

If shipping isn't a big issue I can make a pair of the necessary cross member and transmission mount mods for ya. Better yet maybe you can come up with an excuse to go south of the border this summer for some fun and just pick them up. Let me know which way you decide to go because I can get you hooked up with a guy for a Viper tranny. Take care

I went back to USA's post to see what 6 speed he had too? I assume it's the TR6060?? isn't that the stock application that mates to the 6.1 hemi?

I found a T-56 out of a Viper totally rebuilt new bearings syncros seals, I'll see if there's a deal to be had I'm waiting for a reply now. If I did go this route then I definitely would take you up on the offer for cross member and mount mods! I also may follow up with your hook up for the Viper Tranny and go that route. I'd be up for the drive South for sure especially if it's worth the saved $$ and we would have some fun guaranteed!

I'm gonna PM you the link for the one I'm looking at

Duhhhhh....... I forgot he has the 6.1 Hemi so I'm sure your right about the 6060.

yes sir it is the tr6060. that shifter i got off ebag has a 40% reduction, and takes a little getting used to on the shifts. everything seems to me to be close but shifts real nice. with that 522 your mopar will be a rocket on steroids.:beavisnbutthead:

It would be awesome to feel a short shift in these old cars the stock throw that I have with my 4-speed is definitely not optimal by today's standards although I don't want to bash it because it does the job.

A 6060 wouldn't be an option for me with the torque my stroker makes so I'm trying to source a T-56. I found one local but now I FINALLY got the chance to chat on the phone today with 747 (Devin is a hell of a good guy!) and he has me looking at a couple other options with hopefully some good news to follow next week!

So finally an update as promised

After talking with 747 last week to get his 2 cents on the T56 I found locally he offered up the contact he was sourcing his from and we came up with an arrangement to strike a deal and buy them both at the same time. So 2 Viper T56's were bought and paid for yesterday :) The best part of this is it will mean a road trip for me at some point to meet 747 and hopefully Kahn WHEN he makes the trip at the same time.

I need to thank Devin for his help here ensuring I get the right pieces, lending his awesome fabricating skills and saving me a good chunk of change on the unit itself, bell housing and shipping costs.

This leads me to my next step where I'm having some confusion with whether or not I need a new flywheel and how to tell? Clutch selection will likely be coming out of suggestions made in this thread http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/showthread.php?84130-Clutch-options I currently have a Centre Force clutch in my 383 which from my understanding is all Centre Force are diaphragm style which is what I need.... With that said how do I determine of my existing flywheel will work? is 130 teeth or 143? (when I search summit for flywheel for my car both 130 and 143 come up.... were these offered in different packages?)

I'll still have a lot of parts to assemble (electric-cable speedo box or new guages, shifter etc..) which may mean I get the tranny home and it sits for a bit but at least it's a key piece in my decision making of Angrybird's future including possibly going to buckets and a console. Look forward to this new stage and for following 747's swap thread which will be a great resource.

Sweet! I'm envious... I like to row my own gears, but really wish I had a 5th or 6th gear, especially with the 4.10 gearing out back. Out of my budget for the moment, so I will live vicariously through you.

I'm just glad I could help in some way and am looking forward to the swap. Since you guys have stricter laws on guns and just blowing things up in general I'm making it my goal to make sure you enjoy just that during your visit haha!

Always welcome Kahn! I'll time this so you guys can help put the tranny in??????? Just kidding, hopefully it will at least be in by then so Goon can see the extent of the surgery.

With my 3:55's right now it feels like I could drive around in 4th like it's an automatic so wanting another gear was definitely big on my list and adding 2 will be even better. I'm thinking my motor makes enough torque to keep the 3:55's and be happy. Do you get on the Highway much with those 4:10's are do you mostly just cruise around town? My car came with 3:23 open carrier and I swapped the the 3:55 tru trac I think it's a good all around gear.

Thanks 747 it's already a trip I'm very much looking forward to making and if I can get all my ducks in a row maybe I can make it in time to help with the swap. It would be a good process for me to be a part of that's for sure! And I'm definitely game to take advantage of the more relaxed gun/blow stuff up laws! hahaah!!

So in the next little bit I got some FER LEARNIN' to do before I can do some FER RACIN'!!

Few questions... If I order my clutch now there's no reason I need the flywheel (if I even need one) until I'm actually doing the swap correct? But getting the clutch now allows the fab work for the spacer for the throw-out bearing? What will I need to do about my driveshaft? have it cut/welded or do I need to source someone local to have one made? (that wouldn't be a problem)

As long as the thicknesses are the same on the flywheels then you should only need the clutch right now, that's something I can look into (whether or not they are). As far as the driveshaft goes, as long as it get's shorter (I would think so) you can have a shop just shorten it and install the new yoke. My local shop charges around $100.00 to re-tube a shaft so shortening one should be cheaper but they'll also need to add the cost of the new shaft end to accommodate the Viper U joint.

When my seat was out go get re-foamed the guy doing the work mentioned I was missing the plastic hinge covers for the side of the bench (I wasn't missing them I never knew they existed! lol) So when I got looking at some pics online and saw that it does provide a cleaner look with the door open then just seeing the hinge I ordered some up from National Moparts. a simple 2 screw installation meant the seat coming back out so I could get to both screw holes which was a blessing in disguise because I wanted the push clips on the hinge retainer better than they were anyways (mission accomplished.. I had started another thread wondering why I was having such a hard time... one of the push clips had snapped... duh!)

What disappointed me slightly was how much I had to carve out of these new replacement plastic covers with a dremel to get them to clear the back pin where the seat latch secures too. These pics don't even do justice since once installed I had to keep cutting back to the edge of the bezel.... these weren't what I would call cheap ($65 CAD for the pair) so a bit unimpressed.

Update I got a reply from Nigel at National Moparts and he agreed there are some issues

Hi Mike

Thanks for the Feedback.I compared the "high quality" repros to some used originals and they definetly have problems. They appear to be too shallow overall as well as having

insufficient cutouts for the seat back release knobs. The tooling for these was originally made by Kent Quirey of QQE.He retired two years ago ,sold his company to a Mopar guy

that I know.I'll forward your pics as well as some research I have done and see of they can redo the tooling.Hard to say if they will though what with the economy and sluggish

state of the old car hobby.

Questions:

Was the upper screw hole in the correct location ?

If you still have your used originals could you please give me the #'s off the backside ? There should be a 7 digit part # starting with a 2 as well as a 4 digit #.

Thanks For the interest.

Nigel

You don't know how many times I read either Hunts, Daytona's or Charlie's threads and thought "dammit, there's another piece I don't have haha". I'm still learning about things my car is missing but luckily they've all been cosmetic so far, knock on wood!

I don't get on the highway at all really, the lane speed is 65+ around here and I'm not fond of running the RR at 3,700 RPM's constant for any real distance. one of the reasons I'd like the additional gear of a 5 speed at least.

So as posted above before I made the move on the T-56 with Devin I was looking to change the shifter on my 4 speed. This arrived today so I guess I'll have a little something different in the car for the time being and will be able to sell 2 shifter handles when I sell my A833. newshifter.jpgView attachment 231662newshifter2.jpg

Man I'm so jealous of you and Dev's T56 swaps, here's to hoping I'm not far behind! Lol

Also on your flywheel question, Quick Time says to use a 130 tooth 10.5" dia. or less with their bellhousing I'm guessing you guys are going with:

That new shifter handle for the 833 is awesome, but I'm seriously looking forward to the 6 speed action haha

You're correct on the Bell Housing and they're all pretty much around that price except Devin found a couple on Ebay for $540 ea. which was a hell of a bargain.

I found these re-pop pistol grips that you can order with 5 or 6 speed script that I would love but I'll see what decision I end up making there later down the line.

A pistolgrip would be bitchin but it's all up to what feels best for ya. Were the bellhousings Devin found being sold by a store where I could get one for the same price? Or just individuals you were lucky to spot? Haha

I mentioned in the install thread this has me so stoked on the swap I think I'm gonna start selling some factory stuff I don't plan on using on my car, hopefully it will get me enough funds to join you guys in the fun haha

Sounds like a good plan Speedy! Don't place had inventory so I'm sure you'll be able to get your hands on one. The Bellhousings were from a store but through a place that just handles sales so they only had a few advertised at that time but maybe Devin can give you the name of the seller so you can inquire through Ebay. Almost $150 savings is definitely worth asking the question!

Don't worry as much as you have 6 speed envy I have SC envy! Would love to do something with forced induction although the way my 522 is built now it wouldn't be right for it.
