Something in my gut told me to take out the PTC Torque converter and put in the top of the line Neal Chance torque converter.
I wasn't comfortable with the PTC behind all this power.
I went over the combo 1st with ARC and then made the call to Neal Chance and talked to Marty Chance and gave him all my specs.
I'll have my new Converter by the end of next week.
Customer service was 2nd to none.

What stall is that PTC? What kind of power will that convertor handle? How old is it? 6 or 8 bolt pattern? 8" or 9" or 9 1/2"?

It's a 9.5 PTC for BB Torqueflite .Stalls around 5600-5800 with high hp.
Will stall less with less HP.
I went 9.22 @147.6 last year with it. It has 12 passes on it.

It has 4 bolts on it like all torque converters. Doesn't matter if you have a 6 or 8 bolt crank to flexplate.

You'll love the Neal Chance convertor.

They're local to me and my last converter in the 'Cuda was from them.

Great bunch of people that support the racing community as well!

Marty talked to me for almost 1/2 hour discussing converters with me.
He's giving me lifetime free stall changes if needed and says if anything goes wrong with it, he'll fix it for free. What's better than that!
He has a customer for life now!
Also this being my 1st converter from them he also gave me free shipping on top of a great 1st time price.

No kidding, I have NO idea what I was thinking when I asked 6 or 8 bolts. Guess I just had a brainfart. Was going to ask if you were going to sell it but looks like it would stall about the same as mine. Mine stalls around 4500 with my HP so yours would be like 4500-4800 so not enough gain to mess with.

Chris,

Dad had a Neal Chance Converter back when he first built the car.... They sold him a $1000.00 10" Nitrous Converter for his 426 Hemi with a Solid Cam and 12-1 Compression.
The thing was a turd.
I would stick with ATI if it were me.

Kev, I was all set on buying a ATI. Only problem is there customer service is horrible. I couldnt get anyone to call me back. Charlie is never there, Bob didnt want to tell me any stall numbers, and John was MIA.
Not good, so after 5 calls I moved on.
Neal Chance was able to tell me what size which was the only converter company out of 5 to say 9".
Protorque said 8" at $1579.00
Turbo Action said 10" at $1075.00
ATI said 9" at $1071.00
A1 said 9.5 at $1375.00

No more PTC converters for me. They couldnt get the ring gear and depth correct. It took them 3 sendbacks to get it right.

I have the opportunity today to put in the new Neal Chance Torqueflite Converter. I went with a 9" 6700 stall.
Never so easy to put in a converter and trans. before. C & F chassis made me a nice 25.5 trans. crossmember and installation was a breeze. Just need 3 more converter bolts to put in and it's finished.
I might bring it up to Lebanon Valley for our 1st race and HURT SOME FEELINGS!

Thanx for the pics. The trans member is nice and simple, the way it should be.Who's front end stuff are you running. The two bolt set up is nice,no more four inch bolts that start to turn into u bolts to fish out. That and its small and opens up space.
