If B-Bodies are so popular...then why....?

Everywhere I go, forums, cruises, my own car club, the B-Bodies are revered as the Mopar to own regardless of body style you choose (and I agree), then why are the E-Bodies so much harder to find and more expensive when you do for one in the same comparable condition as a B-Body but no where near the same in value...or asking price I should say. Been looking for a Challenger for a second car, any year, almost any running or almost running condition driver, even a 6 cyl plain jane seems to fetch the high dollars compared to a nicer condition big block B-Body.

No comparison with the looks of the 68-70 B-bodies, but in compared to the 71-74 B-bodies an E-body looks like a Michelle Phillips next to Mama Cass.

Supply and demand.... Stack up some production #'s of the two models of E-Bodies, made only from '70-'74 vs. all the B-Bodies over the years. The Look..... E-Body is the closest body style that reflects a pony image like the Camaro/Mustang. Sleek, more compact. So, again picking from a limited pool of cars, if that's what wanted. Biggest pool of folks that set the pace of B-Body pricing are working Joe's like you and I. Not as much with the E-Bodies.

DH, are you saying B bodies are FAT!??? Well, they are bigger but not that much....well some are. :D

Thanks Prop, I think you hit the nail on the head.

How about a 1970 challenger R/T 383 car. I recently passed on one, original plum crazy car, it's about a hundred miles from me. I think the guy wants around 8 for it, numbers matching engine IIRC, comes with a spare engine I think.

needs full restore but I think it sits in orig condition.

let me know if you are ready to jump on something, I'll give you dude's number.

That might be worth a look. Does he still have it? If it were a Cuda, I'd be interested in it. After owning several Challengers over the years and only a couple of Cudas, I prefer the Cuda. Yeah, most say they are pretty much the same car underneath but imo, that 2" shorter wheel base on the Cuda makes a difference plus I like the body style better.

It was like a week ago I talked to him, There's a good chance it sold fast.

He sent me some cell phone pics, I'm just too busy building my shop, I'm trying hard to NOT buy projects right now.

It was going to be a big job, I wouldn't call it a basket case, but it needed attention everywhere (like most do)

Complete car though, with some extras IIRC.

potentially a mid 50k car if done right IMO.

E Bodies you only have 5 years and 2 car lines to choose from. B Bodies you have a lot of different car lines and many more years. The lower end E bodies (72-74) are not too bad on price, unless someone has dropped a Hemi in it.

Maybe it's just a trend, but it's been that way for a while now too...
I still prefer a 68-70 B-Body especially a 68 RR, GTX, Charger, Super Bee, R/T,
not that I don't love the 70 RR or even the 71 RR/GTX classy lines or 71 Super Bee-Charger R/T,
but I would also love to have anther 70 `cuda too, if I had the room, which I don't...LOL,
but right now if I was to get another `cuda, it's probably going to be an A-Body 67-69,
fastback & preferably a 68... there's just something about 68 Mopars

E-bodies have a high entry fee...

But IMO, nothing compares to 68-70 Chargers.

when mama cass sang DREAM A LITTLE DREAM FOR ME, things moved, so -B- body it is!
