Last Thursday I was in Ocean City for cruise week.

I am all legal, but OCPD TOWED & IMPOUNDED the car for "obstruction of vision" (too big hood scoop)

It was over a grand to get it out of the impound lot!

Local laws,every place is different.
Sorry it happened to you.

Do a little homework and see what the "Obstruction law" is. You may be legal or may be not depending how the law is written.

Fremont Raceway used white shoe polish (you can rub it off with your fingers) to place bracket racing numbers on windshield. I drove the vehicle in Salinas, California one evening without having washed the numbers off and received a ticket, did not tow me though (don't remember the violation code that was used).

Sorry this happened. Unfortunately you can't fight city hall.

Maryland, redistribution of wealth. All in the governments pocket.

What did you do to piss off the officer?

Nothing, It took them over an hour to charge me after pulling me over. There was a crowd of over 100 people gathered on the sidewalk next to the car and some were yelling at the cops and everyone was filming. IMO they had to get me with something no matter how BS it was to "set an example". It worked because this was all over FB and most blown cars were trailered in to the show instead of being driven after that.

The car was 100% Maryland legal. Mufflers, DOT street tires, seat belts, lights, turn signals, etc.

I even have Maryland Street Rod plates. These plates are only for driving to events, and you have to send pictures of all modifications to the DMV. They have pictures of the scoop and everything on file and told me I'm legal. I'm registered and insured.

Unfortunately it happens. Somebody was having a bad day.
We just did a local police benefit car show with over 200 cars.It was for a fallen officer.
Some really weren't what you would call street legal but the law looked the other way.
