Monroe's 70 GTX

Way to pull through and make it work Monroe!Damn good job! Lotta of folks would have tossed their hands in the air and just spent weeks being pissed. Hat's off to you.

Thanks Prop. I did stomp a couple of times and say a few choice words in the direction of the body shop lol, but after calming down i realised that I had to do something to make it work. Hopefully the stainless trim will go on ok and not look too obvious.

Nice solution Monroe. This area is a bitch no matter how perfect everything is..... Because it wasn't to perfect from the factory in the first place. Mine was a pain in the butt too and I personally welded in the new drip rails! Thankful for the slots in both directions in the insulation base

Man Monroe sorry to hear about the trouble but well done on handling it. Keep up the great work on the X !

I am sure I have my trials and tribulations coming up too. Hat's off to the way you handled it!

Well finally my young bloke is home on leave, so I have someone giving me a bit of a push to get out and do some more on the car. We got the new headlight wiring loom and added the extra bits for the headlight relay. Also added the wire from the alternator to the starter relay. Thanks to kiwigtx for the how to on this upgrade. :icon_thumright: Need to tidy up the wiring a bit before going anywhere though. But at least it's done now.

Put on some letters on the back panel and installed the trunk rubber. I'll wait till nice and dry and then cut and join up the base of it. Also put the bonnet back on, just because we wanted to see it on again. Also easier to do when there's an extra pair of hands here.

Nice work on the wiring...and thanks for the props on the upgrade (looks just like mine apart from the body colour) :headbang:

Looking great Glenn. Nice use of the pegs, take you didn't have any washing to hang on this day.

That is one tight opening to your garage, you be careful with that nice paint job . Bonnet looks fantastic mate.

As always Glenn, nice work!

I have to do my trunk weather stripping soon too, so I may be PMing you for some tips on doing it well. I hate the gluey stuff because it is so easy to do wrong and there are no chances for do overs!

Do you plan to black out the front of your car? Chrysler blacked out lighter colors (like my Limelight, for example), but I am not sure if yours would have received it. On my car, we went overboard a bit and "over restored" the black, but I really didn't want any green showing through the grill.

Funny you should say that Tony. I actually had a couple of things hanging with the auto spring clamps I used on the roof lining. They were too tight for the rubber so I swapped over for a couple of pegs. Should have taken a photo of that. LOL

Thanks Hawk. I saw the black on your thread and I did read somewhere that the area behind the lights should be black. I'm kind of a bit toey at the moment in wanting to get the thing on the road, so I won't be changing it yet. But I will come back to it later on. A mate of mine asked me the other day what am I gonna do when it's finished? I told him I'd probably bring it back in and tackle the things that I wasn't happy with. Sometimes tinkering in the garage is just as much fun as driving.

LOL. I know how you feel. I was standing in my engine compartment making "powerful V8" noises! :yaayy:

"Sometimes tinkering in the garage is just as much fun as driving." I couldn't have said that better!!! My family always has told me, i seem more content and in a good mood as long as there is something in my small shop im building, and over time, i agree.... ENJOY, good times will come with the final building and then driving but enjoy....

The paint looks awesome on your car, great combination. I really like the blackout in the rear. Nice

I think we've all fallen victim to that temptation from time to time. I heard somewhere that boys never really grow up, they just get older. Too true I say.

LOL.......Guilty as well. Although I just can't seem to get the shifting part down very well. Sounds like a band of angry gorilla's.

Getting ready to put the back window in. Had to install the trim clips and do a test run on the trim. Does anyone know how tight to screw the clips down. I found it almost impossible to get the trim on with the clips tight. I had to loosen them off a bit to get the trim to snap on. Is this normal? Ended up putting a couple of dings in the trim with the palm of my hand because they wouldn't click in.
Trim clips.jpg Trim test.jpg Is there supposed to be a clip in the very bottom corner? The bottom trim sits up a bit and I was thinking that maybe it needs a clip in each corner as well to keep it down.

Well done as always on the resto photo documentation
