My 68 Charger - A Work In Progress

I haven't done my own oil change yet. I did buy my own oil in the fall and took it to a shop for them to do as it was too cold outside for me to do. As they had a bay they just went up underneath to remove the filter. I plan on doing a change in early fall so we shall see.

I can't imagine that back in they day the took the p/s pump off.

Been watching your hose change, corbin clamps a pita but if you want the look. Changing oil filter do you remove PS pump and move out of the way or is it just me? I remove battery and unbolt PS pump and put it in battery tray. Then change filter and it's still a little messy.

Well had an interesting afternoon today. Went downtown to fill up my car when all of a sudden I got a weird feeling from the car. Lower hose came off the water pump AARGH. As It was less than a mile from home I was able to get her home without any issues but was watching the temp gauge. So had to take the p/s pump off again and repositioned the hose. I discovered my mistake was I hadn't put the clamp over hump which I obviously thought I did, so chalk that up to lesson learned.

Got everything back together and took a test drive with no issues. Man what a long weekend...

Havin fun yet?? That old Mopar will take it, I blew a frost plug in 1982 at Keele and Wilson in Toronto, drove all the way to the 427 while losing coolant to write my last engineering exam. Afterwards, drove the same 10 miles across the city with zero coolant, temp pegged, to buy a frost plug from the only auto parts place I knew on the route. Tapped it in with a hammer and filled the system. Still driving on that same engine!!!

Temp gauge might not be to accurate with no coolant, if you lost most of it.

Thanks guys. Yea it's fun but man I hate re-fixing fixes, LOL. At least it was 75* today & was nice to be outside.

Those spring clamps are a bitch to keep open. The tool I had didn't give me enough clamping pressure to open it up wider which was the issue as well as being pretty sore and tired when I did it yesterday. Felt like my motto was "I do it right cuz, I do it twice", LOL.

I'm just glad I went for a nice hike with my wife this am before I took my car out.

Wow that must have been a hairy ride until you got it refilled.

I checked the oil to see how it looked and still was a nice golden color.

Haven't had much to do lately now that I've fixed my radiator hose drips.

Lately been doing small clean ups with my Dremel tools. Cleaned up the orig. washer bottle motor.

Thanks Eric! Spent today doing more clean up. Sometime in the past a PO decided to paint the firewall Black with everything in place so I'm cleaning it up as best as I can with my Dremel tool.

Can someone tell me what the codes mean on the electronic ignition parts., I'm assuming they're date codes but I'm not sure.

Purchased a NOS starter relay from a fellow member here! Good to have a spare starter relay & ballast in the car at all times.

Box has a 9-92 on it and the part says 0562,so I guess that means 56 day of 1992. Didn't know they were still being made in 92.

Anyone know what the green wire goes to as my orig. from 67 didn't have one, so I'm guessing it is for newer cars.

How much and from whom for the NOS starter relay?
Looks like an additional ground wire added maybe for late 1970s cars?

$20 from a member here. I'm not one to disclose info w/o the person's ok but they are welcome to chime in if they want.

Seeing yesterday was a rainy day dressed up the engine bay a bit. Painted the kick down linkage spring yellow as well as the distributor cap tan. The spring is supposed to have a red strip on it but I haven't seen a decent picture of what the color looks like. Once I find one I'll be able to add that on.
