my 70 barn find

Late in the game for me on this thread. The drive by wire in my 09 Challenger is a delicate on then off affair. The throttle in the wifes 06 Charger is the sweetest thing ever experienced. What find you?

i dont know why but these nittos did not smoke much, but here is the video of the scowl lighting them up.

SWEEEEET USARR . . . so that is what I hope to look forward to one day . . . how sweet it is ! ! Great news for the Doc too - glad to hear it ! ! !

This build helped me decide which way to go for my 67 cuda. 5.7 and a 6 speed!!!!

Good luck with your health issues and many more years of cruisin' with yer "barn find"!!!!!!

Wow! I wouldn't think the straps would need to be really strong as long as they are holding the universal in the pockets? I think I'd look elsewhere for the problem, bad yoke (loose fit), possible striped threads, maybe over tightened bolts, or binding like you said?? I think somebody has been having to much fun.

Went to Dubuque, is Sunday an entered the scowl in diamond in the rough an took first place. I was surprised that so many people liked it. It made me feel pretty good. The car ran good. 6th gear gotta be going 75. The motor not even working. I haven't unleashed it yet but I laid into pretty good ripping thru the first four gears. The Hemi pulls hard in second an third. Got into fourth going 110mph still had more in fourth an two more gears to go. Needless to say we had fun sat an sun. It still gets sideways if your not carefully. Another video is coming soon we got rain next six days. Trying to get fuel gauge calibrated an need to get tach working right. Right now I'm floating on cloud nine driving my car.

Congrats on the award USA .. loved the video too. I'm glad you are getting plenty of seat time in it

That's what I've done in the past. Seems like mine was a Spicer. U bolts are much stronger. I wonder if there is enough metal and room to just drill the stock yoke holes out to fit the U-bolts?

holy crap Gary!!

what the hell have you been doin' to this poor car?!?! lol

I love it!!! :beavisnbutthead: rock on brother!!

That certainly sucks, i only did that once in a Mopar, my 67 Charger and it was not because of over HP lol, They are what they are and i hope someone here has a trick that will help!, If not try the racing section, one of those guys would have to know!!! Good luck to you...

Wow! Bad Hemi...LOL. I'd recommend upgrading to a 1350 series joint. In the end, after a new pinion yoke at the diff, new forward yoke, driveshaft and U-Joints, you'd probably spend 5-6 hundred bucks, and most likely never have to worry about that issue again. Here's where I upgraded my bird from:

Denny's is also pretty good.

Good luck!

He could also just replace the yolk for now and run a conversion joint if he didn't want to spend the money on the shaft quite yet. Realistically he will probably have no problems with a small joint as long as he replaced the yolk with something with the u bolt style. I am running the small 7260 joint right now with no issues but I also don't have the 6.1....only the 5.7 :p

Man, clean bill of health, over 1,000 miles on the scowl, supercharger plans, burnouts, and enough fun to break some stuff? Great news all the way around USA!! That thing sounds mean!

Any updates USA?? The Scowl needs to be out there scaring people!

only upates GOON, i gotta get my tank sent out, getting a new yolk new u-bolt design retainers new u-joint an getting driveshaft rebalanced and the SCOWL will be back in action for the spring. the HEMI and the 6 speed are freaking awesome. people were amazed to see this thing crusing at 75mph on the inter-state.

Sounds like a good plan, fun to drive always is the good thing... I already miss summer and winter is just getting fired up... Spring is coming though, i have to keep telling myself that! :) keeps me sane, well as much as possible lol.....

You said a mouthful .. I'm really happy you are out there having fun with it and it does sound and look great

thanks tallhair, MODERN MUSCLE called me last week about my tank, found a hairline crack in it and sent me a new tank and it was on my door step today. WOW. i got nothing but good things to say about them. all the help to get the parts i needed and along with tech advise to help me with my build. and standing behind there products like they did is just awesome. now it just needs for this white stuff to go away an warm up so i can start putting the scowl back together. thanks for the response on the yoke an driveshaft. should be getting parts soon.

holy smokes it hit 50 degrees here and here is the first thing i did to the mopar, adds a little something to it. lol. got to get some aluminium to start fabbed up the chin spoiler an splitter an rear spoiler. the rear spoiler will be a low profile one, not like fast an furious. my work has us working 6 days a week, and the 7th day dont feel like doing anything. but i will try to get something done.
