My 72 Coronet Project Empty Wallet

I'm liking the "almost cop car" look.

Is that my speedo?

I recently learned that there was an optional oil pressure gauge that fits in place of the clock- mostly a cop option I think.

Wish I had known you needed a heater box, the one on the car that cluster came from was as nice as the cluster, maybe even better. I had your ashtray guts and light, too- never had ashes.

Those steering couplers are fun, eh? Can't believe they couldn't find a better way to secure the cover.
Looks like you did a great job on that.

I see your car has a black steering wheel even though the rest of the assy (horn cover and column) are green.
Mine was the same way. I've seen green wheels, and it seems crazy that they'd not have green ones when everyone knows 80% of all Mopars are green or have green interiors!

Lookin good, and nice to see it on the road.

I've been spending time on the step-side, and am about to get it running again.
I'm really missing the Satellite, but I need to step away from that and think about it more.

The steering wheel is actually green. It looks darker in the pictures. I need to get the vacuum electric switch for the heater ac controls. Or a complete a/c heater controls for parts. Found out last night I have no dashlights. I do need new headlights. The ones on it suck

Well changed the headlights. Found broken trim ring tabs. Very loose bolts on right headlights mount. No wonder the headlights on right side were facind toward the ground. The 4 screws in the picture hold the plastic headlight bezel. Which ones are the right ones

The other week my rear defroster switch fell apart as I was driving. I thought I was going to have to get another one. But I just cleaned it up and put it back together. That thing looked like it was submerged in sand for a long time. It works great now

Finally found a knob for the rear speaker control and temporally fixed the rear view mirror from flopping. Took the rubber boot from a caliper pin and cut it down to fit.

Thanks Since my budget for the next 2 months on her is nil. I started to work on the top. Worked on it for a bit. I need to find a good product to spray on the rust after sanding it down. Something I can put primer over it needs to be in an airsosol can

My parents came to visit this afternoon. Me and my dad took the car out I let him drive. My dad drove it like a race car it was funny. We would be cruising along and he would put the pedal to the floor look at and say that's cool. Every traffic light was a race at the drag strip. Lots of fun. I was waiting for the trans to blow up. I would have laughed my *** off if my 75 year old dad destroyed the trans. Expensive yes . Worth it HELL YES.

That sounds like a blast! Great times with your pops. That roof really looks good.

I used Eastwood Fast Etch on some of my stuff I wanted to make sure rust did not come back, works great, just prime and paint after etching.

Your roof does look good and its great to hear of the fun with your dad! I use a lot of Eastwood products and i think its a good choice!

More work on roof the past couple of days. Found some Joan Rivers filler above the edge of rear window on roof but no damage. The side panel will be a different story. There is some surface rust and also staining on the metal. Looks like it was from the vinyl
roof glue. This vinyl roof was replaced at one time. There is red oxide under the glue and what is left the paint.

Nice work! Your roof looks to be in great shape. Are you going back to vinyl or Painted? I like the smooth Painted look myself.

I saw another 72 Coronet same color as mine with the green vinyl roof and the car looked terrible. But the interior is green in my car. I haven't decided yet. Vinyl roof or not I want to keep the trim

Just read through all 4 pages of your thread. Nice work on the dash and heater box. Actually, nice work on everything you've done so far. Fun times with your dad, you'll remember that for the rest of your life. Keep up the great work.

Well crawling around in my trunk today and it looks like the right rear was maybe hit at one time and replaced. I knew there was bubbling on the upper part of panel I looked down the inside of quarter panel and found this.

About two and a half years ago the VA told me I needed a hobby. So I found this old Dodge sitting in a dirt field at a used car dealer in North Carolina. So what if it was a 4 door it said rescue me. Since being a Disabled Vet and having very short pockets. It's been a slow go. Some days are good most are bad. Between the car and all my friends on here it is the best therapy ever. Thanks to all that have helped me and have kept me going on my car.

Interesting.

Usually it sucks to find something like that...

However, it looks like they took the time to put sound deadener back on it and to paint it the correct color.

...and look at the odd, professional corner cut.

Not crazy about the rivets and lap weld, but up until a few years ago, that was SOP at LOTS of places.

Might have even been a dealership repair.

I agree with the above statements- you're certainly doing things thoroughly, and the results show it.

Did a little work on left side panel of the roof. Not looking good. Thick amounts of filler and a weld that looks like a blind person on crack did it.

I'll bet that's factory.

They used filler on vinyl top cars vs lead on plain roofs.

You should see the poor leading on the driver's side of my 73.

The pass side is nearly perfect but both quarter seam and A pillar seem look like *** on the DS.

Someone a long time ago painted the roof. There is red primer under what is left of the glue and paint
