My charger restoration dream car

I epoxy coated my K member and rear diff.

I took the axles out and checked the barrings and put in new seals. The barrings looked good so I cleaned them out and re-packed them. I split the differential and checked all of the pinion gears. The oil was clean and all the gears looked very good so I cleaned it all out and sealed it back up. I also pulled the pinion seal and replaced it.

I got the differential all put back together and have been mounting the hardware and put the rear end back on wheels. These are the same old wheels that were on the car when I first bought it. they look good but are only 16"s and I would like to get 17"s or 18"s eventually.

Wow that black vinal top and those black bumble bee stripes really make it POP.
I think those wheels look pretty good to me.

Thank you Glenwood, 747, and Don. Now that I see it with its back wheels, I am motivated to get the front put together and on.

As I have been taking my car apart I have been trying to document everything, take pictures, and keep all of the old parts until I know that I don't need them. I have been trying to put in my new parking brake cables and could not figure how it hangs in the middle of the car. I went back looking through the pictures and found that it hangs from a bracket in the middle of the rear floor pan. My new floor pans do not have this bracket. I had been saving my pile of old cut out sheet metal but needed to clean up and so had thrown my old rusty floor pans and other sheet metal away. I had thought that there was nothing needed left on them. I did find that classic industries did sell new brackets so I ordered a new one with my last order of parts. Just a minor problem.:D

Looks like you'll need to weld that bracket on the floorpan, and then thread the cable through it...easy afternoon job

Car is looking very nice now with yellow and a black roof. Keep it up, you're nearly there. :steering:

Thank you. Your right, I got the bracket put on this afternoon. Now the e-brake cable fits right.

I have been spending a lot of time cleaning and repainting parts. I just finished overhauling my steering column. I bought a kit with new bearings and seals and put those in also.

Looks great!
Where did you get that kit?

Sorry, I had to make my own kit. I looked and looked for a kit because I thought I had seen one at one time but I could not find one so I took my column apart to identify the parts that I needed and then I ordered the individual parts from Mega Parts at https://www.megapartsusa.com/products.asp?cat=149&pg=2.
I replaced the upper and lower bearings, white break away clips, lower column O ring, and the bottom gasket.

I am working on restoring my window rollers. I bought a kit from classic industries to replace worn out parts. I have a couple questions that maybe one of you could give me some advice. These little nylon rollers are pressed on the parts pictured. I have used some force to try to remove the old ones, I know that I could get them off but my thinking is that if they are still firm should I worry about replacing them? (if it aint broke don't fix it question)

My next question. There are some roller stops with old rubber stops that are brittle. My kit only has some small rubber tube pieces that will not come close to fitting. Do I cut them open and try to glue them to the metal stop or are there some replacement stops that I can get?

The column looks nice, but I think it's a bit shiny. It should be painted the suede finish that the dash board is. If you are so inclined to, you could dull it up with some satin clear.
I had both paints (satin & gloss) and debated what one to use. I thought that the satin might be more correct but decided on the gloss.

I came up with an idea for the rubber stops on my window rollers that works for me. I went to the auto parts and they let me look through there rubber hoses and I found a couple size diameters that work.:D
