My charger restoration dream car

Good lookin progress there! Your about the same place I am. Nice pic of you in the trunk BTW.
Thanks GTX, you have been enough ahead of me that I have been following your thread very closely and have been using undisguised copies of your ideas. For instance does this picture idea look familiar? Thank you for your help.

We spent this last week helping my two youngest compete in the Dixie Junior Livestock Show. My son and daughter have spent many hours working with their hogs and they did well at the show. We enjoy watching there work pay off and they enjoy selling them at the auction at the end.

Looks like I went right by your area while on vacation a couple years ago.

I have driven through or by his town a few times.. Plus spent time in your neck of the woods.

I have been having some time trying to figure how to upload pictures with this new program. It isn't as easy with my limited knowledge in computers. I tried it a different way and hope that you can see them now.
La Verkin is in Southern Utah right at the base of Zion National Park. If anyone is passing this way and have time you ought to stop by.

Picture are there now. Grew up on a farm with Hamps, but I don't miss them. Kids look like they like it. Yes, clothes pins are cheap and work well. I was in FFA to, way back.
We tried to hit all the parks out there I think 5 of the 7. Zion was beautiful.

Restoring this car has been a big learning process for me. I have learned that doing things over is normal. Most things I can do over until I do it right or it fits and it hasn't been to costly. Some mistakes cost time and money. I just made one of those costly mistakes. I just spent $1100.00 on new rear tail lights for my car. I also bought new foam rubber paint seals to go with the tail lights. When I was mounting my tail lights i felt that I needed to snug them tightly to squish the foam. Well Rambo over tightened one and pulled the stud through the bezel.:BangHead: I have checked and I can only buy the bezels in pairs at $630.00. I may try and patch and repaint first but sometimes I get OCD and do it the expensive way.

I think you should be able to fix that ok. I learn in one of 3 ways
1 By watching
2 By doing
3 By doing over again.......
Hope it is fixable!
I have found with those type of gaskets I tighten them in 2-3 stages, each about a week apart.

Thanks for your confidence in me. I like your steps.
I am doing just as you said on my right tail light. I only tightened it half way tight and will do it in stages and if I feel it getting snug I will stop.

Ouch, I'm sorry that you damaged you new tail light. But that reproduction light looks awesome. On my 1st 68 charger I found that the new foam light gaskets suck. I sprayed the original gaskets with 4 or 5 coats of Plasti dip to fill in any cracks and defects, worked great.
Great job on your charger
Pat

I thought about reusing my old gaskets they are in good condition. Sometimes I think that I need everything new when some of the original things still are good and might work better.

I know, it's just hard to put some old stuff back on the car sometimes. I start to do that on occasion but then I see it looks old and I don't. Everything else I see is either new or back to new condition.

I had to repair the majority of my grill and used platic weld (2 part epoxy), that should be an easy fix. Sanding it will be the hardest part but a popsicle stick and dremel might help with that. They do look awesome, good luck.

I think that I will do that. I will just not use that stud when I am done.

I am working on restoring my window rollers. I bought a kit from classic industries to replace worn out parts. I have a couple questions that maybe one of you could give me some advice. These little nylon rollers are pressed on the parts pictured. I have used some force to try to remove the old ones, I know that I could get them off but my thinking is that if they are still firm should I worry about replacing them? (if it aint broke don't fix it question)

My next question. There are some roller stops with old rubber stops that are brittle. My kit only has some small rubber tube pieces that will not come close to fitting. Do I cut them open and try to glue them to the metal stop or are there some replacement stops that I can get?

I bought one of those rear window roller kits for my Coronet. You're right, the rollers aren't a high wear item. Mine had deeper spider webs radiating from the center than your picture so I went ahead and replaced them. The biggest bang for your buck is cleaning the tracks; the original grease turns to petrified peanut butter. I dressed the tracks with 0000 steel wool, light grease, and now the windows roll up and down better than new.
