My Coronet project

you guys got some nice cars over there. When can we have them back. Just kidding, they look like they are in hands.

I wish I had the talent and ambition that you have Swede. You've saved yourself several $$$$ by doing what you have done to your car already. Your painter may just hand you over the paint gun and say have at it? Very impressive car that will impress very many people and influence the youth of today to put down the cell phone and get a REAL HOBBY!

When dollars are cheap we buy alot of cars to Sweden and restore them later when dollar for us are very expensive people from USA Buy them back to USA, thats it.

Thanks for all the encouraging words, I do my best and from every part of the project I learn something new.
The most important to make progress is to go out there and start working, no matter how little time you spent it is always more then nothing. Sometimes I only get 1 hour in one weekend but it is still one hour.

Did a minor resto of the rear wire harness, did some "long distanse blasting" to remove some rust and freshened up the connectors, put on some clear coat on the outside and shifted the small springs in the side markting connectors. I will also put on some dielectric grease so it will not rust again.
Also found a plastic spiral, not the resto look but it will protect the cables.

Had to drill some holes for the BEE in the front, just for fun, also mounted the N96 and I need to have them mounted during filling and grinding, the hood has some dents and without the sccops in place it will be impossible to get it right.
Lucky for me MR Spauldo sent me a pair of Dura-Block so I can start the mission impossible! Thanks once again Kent!

Great looking car. I have a 70 Bee,checking out your work makes me want to get off my *** and get mine done. One day at a time.

Hey swede, just in case i'll save my 70 bumper mounts for you in case you need them and that xtra piece that you are going to try and refab.

Got a call from Discovery Channel, Mike Rowe is looking for a new "Dirty jobs" project an I have the right one for him.
Replacing the inner wheel house (outside) without removing the quarter panel!
Some wise men put on a new quarter but did not replace the rusty inner fender, nice work, now I have to cut out the old one including 1 inch of bondo and cut in the new one and weld it upside down with a drum brake in my neck...

Good news, spent saturday working on the rear tail panel. Had to replace some parts and patch it a little but it is 1000 times better them the old one. Did some test fitting of the trunk and extensions too, much easier when the tail panel is not in place. Parts fits pretty well.

Hope to close this rustwork in a week or two, getting tired of the smell of dust from the angle grinder and burning skin...

What's next

Swede,
You've been entertaining us all with this Net for a long time :upside down::upside down:but I know when this project is all said and done. You're not the type of guy to say this is it boys and girls, the building parts all done!
Will it be the something mild, or will it be something way off the hook? We all know it's going to happen....

Its been awhile since ive chimed in Swede, still watching and is looking great sir! Continued good luck..

I have an announcement to make, we have a World record here in Sweden, I started to pry of a bit of bondo from the front valance, the piece that came of is over one inch thick and it weights probably 2 pounds, anyone has a thicker bondo repair on his car? And it is totally rust free behind, just a simple dent that someone filled up with bond!

You are doing great as always my friend, is it ready for MoparMeet Denmark July 6-7-8?
When Opel in Malmö expand I was there and did the sheetmetal job, one of theres guy filled up a door with 7 cans plastic padding, I asked him why he didnt push out the dent, Ohhh its soooo much job to take out the doorpanels, IDIOT!!!!

Wow! That's an impressive lump of mud someone slapped on there....and how is shaping/forming 2lbs of bondo easier than poping out a simple dent?

well, with that off the car will be lighter and probably get better fuel mileage now.

Damn, I had to go to page 4 to find my thread, someone has to start working again...
Be away a couple of weeks this summer supporting the Greek economy so the project has been on hold but now I am back on it!

I am so tired of welding so I spent most of the time in the front, mounted a new tranny cooler, it is a Setrab that is made in my town, no chinese crap here! Made a ridgid bracket and connected with Earl´s, it is a feast for the eye :icon_winkle:

Also filled her up with oil and water and did a test crank, no oil preasure, hmm?
Made a primer out of a 5/16 hex and took the cordless drill and started to run the oil pump, first it was nothing than it was like whipping in frosen syrup, that cordless machine almost gave up. Engine must have been completly drained of oil to the last drip.
New test, 50 psi of oilpressure when I cranked it, nice!

I bought a new ministarter on eBay, damn what a difference! It is twisting that 383 like it had no spark plugs compared to the old one.

The only thing left for startup is to connect the exhaust pipes and do a cardiac examination of myself, and add some fuel of course.

Now I will go out and start welding that trunkfloor:angryfire:
