Welcome
The biggest problem for rust was the eyebrows above the headlights were always rusted out. The mud would pack up there and hold the water and then you had perforated eyebrows. That 58 Fury was a great runner and rode super on my weekend trips. I got tired of replacing the trannys so I converted to stick. Big problem cause I could only get the standard 3 speed when it needed a stronger box. I believe the big stick motors got a Borg Warner tranny to contain the torque. Anytime I got on it in 1st gear and tires burnt rubber 1st gear would strip and be useless after that. At least with the stick tranny I could change it myself and I learned to feather 1st gear. Good luck with your find and hope you can get it without further damage.
Also not sure if it came stock, but it has dual carbs on it??Thank you. This car has a 318 wide block I think. With push button trans.
Welcome from Missouri!
290 hp, that's quite a bit for an old stocker. Smoking tires became a thing. It was an option at extra cost in any model. Would have been standard on the Fury, but also the 350 was available at more bucks. The 350 was called the Golden Commando with 305 HP and the 318 with 2 4's was called Dual Fury V-800 with 290 HP. They also had a 277 and a 301 C.I. engine.

Welcome to the site! 318's were available in 58. Dad had a 56 Belvedere Sports Coupe and said it was a teen but from what I read, the teen didn't show up until mid year 56. Anyways, you might be better off if that tree in front of it can be cut down. Hey, save the wood for a fire place If you can cut it down, dig around it so you can get as low as possible with the saw. The lower the stump, the better. And you might start a build thread on it too showing how you got it out with plenty of pics of what it looks like underneath and inside too. I'm interested in knowing whats under the hood but being a modoor, I'm thinking a mundane 2 bbl....Also not sure if it came stock, but it has dual carbs on it??

This is the grill he's asking about.I can't see the grill, but I do know, the guys into these models get real goosey about glass. Forget what they all it. Like said looking forward to you pulling it out, and cleaning it up.!!

But I do know there are 2carbson it, can you tell me anything about the grill situation. It looks like 2 different grilles. I just noticed it today.
