Then it's not going to roll away, so brakes should be on the back burner. Hell, by looking at that thing, you're $50,000 away from needing brakes.

No body work needed, just floor pans, windshield, BRAKES AND ENGINE/TRANS.Then it's not going to roll away, so brakes should be on the back burner. Hell, by looking at that thing, you're $50,000 away from needing brakes.
I’m not trying to get on a soapbox with ya and don’t know if you’ve restored vehicles in the past, but there’s the true condition of the frame, cowling, posts, suspension components, bushings, bearing, seals, the electricals….wiring, connections, dash circuitry, etc. Critters might have chewed off wiring and rotting wiring insulation given its age and exposure to the elements. Ground points may be rusted off…then interior and so on (a lot of so on's). My 1st car was seriously rusted before parking it until I could start on the resto…it sat on the ground for around 15 months…not years accelerating rusting. Many parts were still available for it. You may be thinking a rat-rod kind of fix up? Even this will be involved to get the ride road worthy. Ok, maybe I’m on a soapbox…and wish you success.

I have restored 60s, 70s Mopars sine the 80s, and quite a few. I still am learning! I admit I will have a whole new learning curve doing my 49 Dodge I picked up, always wanted to do a 40s or 50s car.
Like said ^^ there is a LOT of stuff to deal with and for me, but learning is so much fun.
I have always found it interesting to see how some people can get stuff done, and others take decades to do what I figure is a 30 day event.
Anyway, I say to the OP good score, make it like you want just make it safe foremost.
Good thing there is so much info available to day with puter sites. Some good group on Facebook also.

Yes, rat rod is the look, I've done a few Chevy pickups. I'm prepared to fix any structural rust. Body work im not touching, may spray some clear on it if. Body mounts thru suspension and frame would probably be the only repairs ill be doing. The car itself is a gem. You just don't see these on the roads or he'll even in someone's yard anymore. And the way it looks now in my opinion, is menacing. So I'll probably be selling all the extra trim and what not. I do greatly appreciate all the advice on the car and hope it keeps coming...edit.... I hooked a battery up to the cables and nothing happened???

I too am a simple guy... get rid of all rust, get it running/driving, and have seat to sit on without a spring stuck in my ***! Anything else is extra fluff!! Oh yea have a roof over its head.
Go figure...? What's your plan for a motor?

Idk. The local yard has new model wrecks, I'd like to get a 392, they pull them without cutting anything, engine trans and complete harness. Priced at $2,500 a pop, that's cheap. As for the original engine and trans, I'm changing the fluids and going to try and start or free it up.
