My first 58 Belvidere

The grille on the drivers side is the correct grille. Don't know where the other side came from. Since I had a Fury the grille was gold with a chrome V in the center. You may have a gold V.

When I first saw this I thought you were just pulling everyone's chain ( no pun intended) about yanking that thing out of there and saving it. Hope you have a **** ton of $$$.

A few little tricks for you my keyboarding friend... When you go to pull this out use a few old junk steel rims, set them on the ground and run your cables, chains or straps across the top of them. They will provide some lift with the pull. I would also get a couple of 2-4 ton snatch blocks to run cable thru and chain too. Then use those to chain around the base of a sturdy tree to change the direction of your pull or change the direction of the car you must use cables in the snatch blocks.. Bring several bottles of soap too if you have trouble making it roll to easy loading on the trailer .. Take lots of pics and protect yourselves from ticks! Have fun!

So far I have about 150ft of straps and chain. A winch, 2 come alongs, and a 10ton snatch block. Thank you for the tips, I plan on digging it out, then jacking it up little by little, I would imagine that the wheels will not turn. So once I get it up on flat ground it'll be dead weight being pulled. I can see under the front, atleast to the middle of the car. The dirt is up to the middle of the rears tires.....the car is sits just outside poplar bluff. My home town, and the mosquito situation is ridiculous. As for snakes I actually haven't seen any yet... And I will be taking a lot of pictures.

..... The doors are stuck shut. But the drivers window is open, I noticed the push button trans IS in neutral. Hopefully it has been there since parked and not just randomly pushed.

I also found the door trim under the leaves around the doors. And, the chrome wipers look brand new under all the leaves, the chrome piece under the wipers looks new too. It's actually really strange how much rust the body doesn't have. It does have rust at the top of the passenger headlight, and the very body of the rear passenger door about a 4in strip.

I can't see the grill, but I do know, the guys into these models get real goosey about glass. Forget what they all it. Like said looking forward to you pulling it out, and cleaning it up.!!

Solex glass. The factory tinted glass. Its worth some bucks. If it has that, a dual quad intake and the grille "V" emblem, you are way ahead of the game on your investment. I bought a 58 wagon recently. And yes, prepare to open your wallet. These things are super expensive to restore and buy parts for.

A car that's been sitting on the ground can do cruel damage. My 1st resto I had parked for 15 months outside accelerated the rusting. A whole lot had to be replaced on the car to do it right; but parts were not difficult to find for it, NOS quarters, doors, fenders, decklid from the sw...endless hours blasting the frame, pieced in floor/trunk pans...cut out and replaced the entire cowling inserting one from a another car. It was an experience...once...my next was a car from CA.

This has been sitting since 64, the floor pans are still in it. I'm kinda of a body man, so alot of it will be done in house, I feel like a fat kid fixing to eat cake! It blows my mind how much metal isn't gone.

Ok moved it about 6ft. Too hot. The frame is solid. Used bumper jacks and lifted it pretty high up out of the ground. The trunk pan is gone. But found the original mirrors and a set of headlights and bezels.

Also found the 2 long wide strips of trim that run the length of the doors I cannot wait to get Rustine home, and take the body off and get it cleaned up.

I'm getting a backhoe out there tomorrow and getting it all the way out. We put a Ford hood under the front and might do the same to the rear for easy sliding

Can’t use an old square seventies thru eighties Chevy / gmc hood as there wouldn’t be anything left to work with. Gosh did those rot bad!
