My son Bryce lives with me while he attends UCCS for Mechanical Engineering. I didn't hear from him until about 6:30 pm so I figured he was in a study session. Then I get a call. "Dad I bought a car."
He bought a 1985 Honda Accord for $247, the amount of cash he had in his account at the time. It needs an alternator but is solid besides that. We rounded up three car batteries and some flashlights and go to the scary part of town to get it. The young couple who owned it didn't want to crawl under it to fix it.
So here we were at 7:30 in an apartment complex with flashlights and it seemed every dog in the world is barking at us. We taped those little round and flat led flashlights to the front put in a charged battery and turned on the parking lights for the rear lights.
I'm not sure if we will get three blocks with the car running on battery power alone but we made it home, about 15 miles, with the car running great. We need to get out today and check it out but it's cold and rainy so no-go yet.
Bryce plans to fix the problem and flip it making a few hundred bucks. I just wanted you to know some kids still do the stupid stuff we did back in the day.
