Need help from those who survived the 70s

I had one of these in my 69 Roadrunner. Had to let it go with the car when my 73 Challenger came along. Damn consoles.

I had a playing card held on with a close pin so my bicycle would make a cool noise. Mid 70s I was 10.

Had a 62 Catalina bubble top 389/4speed.. great car.. had a 4 track and it was stolen so I upgraded to a 4/8 track player so I could continue to use my 4 tracks and get new 8 tracks..Thrush mufflers..10 inch steering wheel..J 70x15's polyglass I believe on the rear..my girls garder on the sun viser ...had the metal screw in blocks in the front springs to get the front up and air shocks for the rear .. man now that I think about it I screwed up a beautiful car ...THANKS for reminding me

Oh my don't forget the Lakewood traction bars. Now being more informed and snickered at, I know I don't need them. But they will stay.
Cobra 21 then a 25 LTD CLASSIC, scanner to monitor the cops, CB handle was "Hangman" had a small noose hanging from the rearview mirror, had a Power Mic., nice and loud.
EDIT IN RED

This may sound like a dumb question... but how did the vehicles near you know which chanel you where on?
We would monitor channel 10 around town. You would ask for a certain person, everyone had a "handle", the person made contact with you. If you thought you were going to have a lengthy conversation, you would tell them to change to another channel, like 20. Then you could have a conversation without hogging up channel 10. The truckers used channel 19. We would respect them and not talk too long on there. IIRC channel 9 was for emergencies.

Here's a Cobra from the 70's. On ebay now for $50.

Yes that.... that's freakin cool man I love the tape player and eq.

I want to know how the older generations customized their cars in the 70s. I've been thinking about what I'm going to add to my Super bee. I've stated before that I'm somewhat of a nerd especially when it comes to vintage audio, electronics and gadgets. I really want to add a period correct cb radio. But it's hard to find info on which ones where "cool" in 1970. I also wanted to add an 8 track player. Im just kind of looking for ideas. While I'm also going to add all of the modern electronics that I love, most of them will be out of sight or interfaced to an analog display. So let's say it's 1970 and you just bought a 1970 superbee with money left over to burn. Other than mechanical items what would you have bought or added? I also wanted to buy some vintage bumper stickers for it lol

Had to be a 23 channel CB as the newer 40 channels had weaker output. We sat on channel 13 around town. Channel 9 was for emergencies and 19 was the truckers channel. Brush your teeth and comb your hair, there's a Kojak with a Kodak taking pictures on the double nickel about the 110 mile marker. That's a big 10-4 good buddy.... ROFL

My '69 Road Runner had chrome reverse wheels with chrome baby moon hub caps. The back end was up in the air with Gabriel Hi-Jacker air shocks showing off the white underneath of the car (car was white with black stripes and top). Thrush mufflers with no tail pipes. I put a Transgo shift kit in the 727 trans, the rest of it was pretty much stock, a 383 with a Holley carb on it. It was a 3 on the tree with a bench seat.

'Hanoi Jane' referred to Jane Fonda who sided with our enemies during Vietnam. There's plenty of info on the web concerning her BS.

I think the tires on the back were G60x15's. Those were good days!

I wonder if anyone is on it today. Either way I'm going to do that. That's cool as heck to me .

Lot of 8 tracks were mounted under the dash on a slide out mount so you could remove them and put them in the trunk or carry inside - same thing for CBs too. Some of them would lock too.

Yea I was thinking about putting a shifter on mine but I was worried that it would hurt the transmission without having a manual valve body on it.

I was actually ... those are awesome pictures do you still have the cars? And so that's a cb radio built like a phone?
I wish I had the cars. The cream one is in town and on my bucket list.

Is that a sticker or did they paint that with a stencil or something
They used lace. LIke a table cloth. They laid it down and painted on it. Like a stencil.
