Need New ECU

Just for clarification, the orange box I removed is stamped "Made In USA" and has NO deterioration on the back side.

That said, the blue box seems to be getting the most nods. I have found these (just to name a few). Any preferences/differences?
P.S
RPM is not an issue. I never run it that high.
I REALLY appreciate all the help, info and offers. Keep 'em coming.

I got some of the older blue boxes, at least testing never had one fail, now orange and chrome are a crap shoot, usually at higher (5000) rpm they have issues.

THIS - Sorry for the long post

I literally have had ignition issues , maybe fuel issues , maybe valve train issues

LOL

383/432 Stroker - Around 500 HP in my 71 BEE or so i thought

I have commented in more then a few threads about issues around 5,000 RPMs
A lot of it centered around the hydraulic lifters and the Comp XE fast rate cams

Anyways i thought i had it solved when i put my new Firecore distributor in this summer , and that took care of my occasional misfire at lower RPMs and so i thought higher

Yes the older factory distributor had wore out shaft bushings

Then i went to fuel pressure

So i taped a fuel pressure gauge to my windshield - Never dropped below 5 psi when the engine would start missing around 5,000 Rpms

Here is the kick in the ***

Four Ignition Modules - Yes Four

My twenty year old Mopar Chrome 4120534 (Car started , idled , never an issue honestly)

Some old orange generic box from Mancini Racing

A Borg Waner Made In The USA from years ago , brand new in the box that was collecting dust

And now a Standard LX101 brand new in the box that a friend gave me

ALL OF THESE WOULD MISS OR FAIL AT EXACTLY AROUND 5,000 RPMS

Confirmed with Timing Light ran to the inside of my car

Was ready to pull the trigger on a MSD Streetfire or Pertronix Digital HP

Had a Pertronix RTR Distributor , would not fit with Edelbrock Heads so i returned it

Until last week when i received Ricks HIREV 7500 Ignition Module from another friend to try

What the hell i said

And and and - I forgot what it was like to spin a 383 past 5,500 RPMs AGAIN - Night and day honestly

Not a promotion - Just pissed off at myself for not trying a different ignition system all together a few summers back - Keep that factory look bullshit.
And had the RTR distributor that would not fit

Anyways - Literally four different brand ignition modules , all failed above 5,000 RPMs

HIREV7500 seems to be a good option. I used for a couple of weeks while my revnator was coming and is at this moment my spare one BUT a friend of mine got one and just last long 3 months

Plenyty of good out there if you want it. Just have to spend once!

yeap... a HiRev7500... installed on his 74 Dart and 3 ( maybe 4 months later??? ) was gone. Not being a driver, but used frequently.

OK

Spill the beans - Spend Once On ?

I have read some good arcticles on testing different ECUs

Dunnick Racing did some testing I think

Canister coils and ECUs , but that was many many moons ago

I am still tempted to get rid of the whole system and go CD Ignition especially after what I just went through

I'm using Blaster II

well, my car is dissasembled since 2013, and I already had the chromed blaster II coil. On those days, the R/T garage still didn't have a "suggested coil" for his Rev-N-Nator. I got the firts batch they released. Mine is the #20 on SN

I've been running a Street fire for about 6 years now. It works well. I actually had to dial back the timing when I installed it because I got predestination.

What the hell is predestination

LOL - I always wanted to travel back in time

Pre Ignition Detonation - That sounds better

Anyways what distributor you running with the Street Fire ?

Absolutely agree.....keep it simple. Confusius said (regarding electronic ignition systems): "Fancy Gizmos don t work, if they do they stop working at the worst possible time".....an ancient Chinese proverb.....

Just picked up a blue box from summit, rated at 5500 $30. Thinking all my issues are due to that dam mopar ecu. Says USA on it but not made in.....we’ll see.

I have gotten blue boxes that the harness won't go on because the plastic surround is too thick.
