New Muscle Car?

It's a 4.6 3 valve 5 speed. The S-197 is some sort of Ford nomenclature for the model.

All things considered, I am still very close to the Challenger RT and Camaro SS, glad I don't need to decide for a few months...like late 2010.

Yes, I know, she's not the best car buyer out there. Again, something kept me from being there for the final closing of the sale. You should see what she payed for her 07 Charger RT back in late 06; OMFG, it's insane! Again, I was taking the kid somewhere when she closed on the sale; more stupidity! She said "I want to keep my payments the same", they f'ing raped her with this and that dealer option; even the paint protection option (which is a coat of wax) cost her $399.99! She kept the same payment, but for 84 frigging months! And she tells me I'm the fool with money!

seeing as i work at a dodge dealer, i drive challengers on a daily basis, S/E,R/T,SRT-8's. they are nice, heavy but nice. my buddy just bought a 2010 gt-500 mustang, holy crap ! a little more pricey than challenger but way more car. i have been an die hard mustang guy for a long time, but i sold my 2004 SVT cobra to buy my 65 coronet ! anyway, just my .02, money no object, shelby all the way. SRT-8 sweet, but no camparison, and camaro, no way, cant get passed the look !

Well if money is no object, then I'd get a SMS-570X, which has upwards of 700hp I think

SMS-570X is nice, although un-avaliable ! and is made by ..... drum roll ........ steve saleen !!

Having sold cars for a living I can tell you that there are things the COMPANY wants their salespeople to push/sell/suggest......whatever. They don't necessarily agree or want to do what management wants. I know I was in conflict with them enough

Saleen isn't connected with the outfit that still does the Mustangs. His first venture after his.........departure.....was SMS Supercars. Their first project was the SMS-570

and if this concept comes to production, im sure it will be bad *** ! like most things from saleen ....

Yeah, she got hosed, and I was trying to be there for the close of the sale, but, the sales manager closed on her w/out me there. They installed hood decals, the Chrome interior trim package, Touch GPS screen, and rear spoiler and it all came to just 34K OTD w/TTL. This was in March 09 when the dealers could not get them in fast enough and Bankruptcy was coming like a run away freight train just a few months away.

The Camaro likely will come down in price due to supply and demand; too many Camaro's and it gets cheaper. Overall, my hat goes to the Challenger b/c it elicits the most emotion in my blood, has the better interior, and has the better outside looks. Plus, a more traditional - if not retro interior with modern tech features. The heavy car means it's more safe, or has more safety stuff in it. Remember, it's engineered off the LX Platform.

I think the RT is the car for me...thanks for helping me decide! Although I find the GM stuff to be very good; I've been trucking in my 02 Avalanche since it was new, and currently have 145K miles on it...all new cars benefit from modern engineering. ABS is awesome! I am in NH now, snowing and in Auto $x4 it rocks! I can hammer the brakes going down a hill, it engages the ABS and I can steer on a decreasing radius turn with an outside bank slope (dangerous) and still maintain control! Try that in you 1992 Suburban!

Well, I dug this thread up from the past, way past, and, happy to 'report' I sprung today on a 2010 Challenger Classic RT 6 spd, 3.91 Nav system, white leather seats, yadda yadda yadda, in FURIOUS FUSCHIA with the white stripe running down the side...the dealer bought a lot of 'em, and marked 'em down nearly 7K dollars! Should have pics in a day or two, they are replacing the stripe b/c someone went by and fingernailed a bit of stripe off the R/T, plus they gotta clean this baby! When I drove it today, man, talk about old gas smell! This thing likely has been on the lot, on display since Oct 2010. Wow, hard to believe it was Jan 2010 when I first flirted with this notion! Oh well, call me a Fag, Homo, etc., but if anyone does, I'll just smile and dismiss them as non-MOPAR smart! My sister has already been razzing me, asking me if I need lipstick, and if she can stick a Mary Kay sticker on it, haha!!!

Post some pics Donny! Just found this review...470hp/470ft-lb.

Congrats Donny!! Got your message, love that car and it looks great in that color. Can't wait for pics man!

412 hp out of a 5.0 V8 in the Mustang ain't nothing to sneeze at.

13.2@109 ain't slow either.

Of course, I rather have an 03/04 Cobra and just change the pulleys and get a bit more than the stock 390 hp and still come ought with more $ left in my pocket.
