Oh no... say it 'ain't so

I’m pretty sure the Pettys went broke from racing 30-40 years ago and never quite recovered.

Let that be a lesson to all of you aspiring racers out there!

There’s a reason NASCAR isn’t like it used to be. The economics didn’t work.
I think a lot of those guys had other businesses to make money.
Car dealerships and what not.
Earnhardt had a dealership IIRC. Now I think his widow is trying to sell or develop his farmland. Probably running out of money.
Now it’s corporate because that’s how you make money.
Oh, and I’ll take a new Toyota over a new Dodge any day.

The whole landscape has changed. Cars today aren't the cars of the past. To me, cars that we enjoyed back then, are called classic cars today. If you're waiting for the old days, rent the movie. What we enjoyed is now called history.

So, one gets old and does stuff that others don't agree with so you lose respect for that person even though he was once a king? He wasn't ever a tyrant that I can remember.....and I still respect him.

He's a business man, good for him, Maybe it will bring in some younger generation that are into these.

I've had Plymouth GTXs in my blood ever since Petty set the unbroken 1967 record in a Hemi Belvedere. I still drive the current one, but like many of us, it's now a historical artifact. Time has moved on, and that car has become my last remaining gesture at stopping the clock.

If you don't change with the times, you get run over. Are we using two cans and a wire or the newfangled phones. We seem to pick are likes and dislikes by our personal thoughts. He's still the king, not God.....

Minus the graphics, I really dig that car especially in that color! Ignore the marketing and concentrate on the car and at least some of us think it's pretty (Petty?) awesome.

There's been a few Toyo cars that caught my eye over the years but that one isn't one of them.....

Me too. I’m a car guy and love all fast cars old or new. So what if they put Richard Petty’s number on a Supra. If Petty is involved with their company I see no harm. The Supra is a nice fast car that looks good too. There are no more Plymouth’s so you won’t see 43 on a Plymouth ever again. I guess maybe they could have painted the last remaining Dodge product, a brand spanking new 2025 baby blue Hornet, with the number 43 on the door.

Sorry, I didn't even like when Petty poured that color and number on Chevy's, Oldsmobiles, and Pontiacs back in the day. Not to mention the year at Ford. So, this is not that much different. And I still don't like it.

Why's that? It's not like the colour was exclusive to Plymouth. Richard's first Petty Blue car was an Oldsmobile.
