Post your 10 second combo's

yep that is very close. how did it feel?? change your RPM shift points? I like those numbers a lot. so tell me exactly what you changed. I have been thinking about trick flow heads this winter down time.

Racing tonight and its going to be much cooler so I am hoping for some good runs.

Wed. Night results. Well I had thought I would set some serious time records but, it's wasn't that serious in fact a bit strange. My first run I did set my new best time 0f 10.73 so thinking this is only going to get better Well Wrong I was. I had good runs but was constently slower on each of the runs as the temp dropped. my final test run was 10.81 and my first round I won running a 10.82 dialing 10.81. So thinking I thought a dial of 10.82 might be my best next dial in time. I was racing a buddy of mine that runs 10.02 but, he also was running slower as the night progressed and he dialed a 10.222 after running a 10.21 so I was thinking why is this car slowing as were other cars tonight. So I dialed a 10.82. Well I got to the line ready to do my best had a good burn out, an .015 light and I was on my way thinking I would be running a 10.82 I ended up a 10.77 Crap I beat myself. I hate that but, I was wondering if anyone else had experienced going slower with the temp dropping. the final run was 58 degrees. Thoughts are very welcome. Anyway I finished 4th not bad but, I was hoping for a better finish....

Canyon...My thoughts...I forget what heads you now have but...If you change your heads get the big Ported MAX WEDGE INDY heads with big flow numbers..the most important thing on the car....I now wish I would have gone with the MAX WEDGE Size Ports and a big port job...a few hundred more dollars at the time...but much cheaper than doing it over.

Your there Mike. Love the pics. I run the Elbrock heads and thinking of changing them but, I ran a 10.73 Wed night and I wonder if I should just be happy with that. If you get the jetting done you will go faster. jets first then timing. Great looking and running car thanks for sharing those pics. I hope to meet up with you this upcoming season.

Be happy with your 10.73. As you know you can chase lower ET's with the equipment you have and live with that (AND YOU HAVE DONE A HECK OF A JOB GETTING YOUR SLED INTO THE 10.70'S)...or you can spend all kinds of money and then go faster but to what end ?
I hope my car will go 10.80's at around 123-124MPH when jetted and timed right (maybe with 112 Race Gas)...but I am limited to that ET because I DO NOT HAVE MAX WEDGE PORT SINGLE PLANE INTAKE WITH A DOMINATOR, MAX WEDGE PORTED HEADS AND 2 1/8" TTI headers...I have the INDY Dual Plane Intake, 850 Demon, Non-Max Wedge Port INDY Heads and 1 7/8" Hooker Super Comp Headers....so..I will just have to live with 10.80's.
If I ever decide I want to faster than my current equipment (build) will take me then the only way to do it, in my opinion, is to just buy an INDY 540 BracketMaster 900HP motor for about $20,000, bolt it in the car and go racing into the low 9's. But..that is just a pipedream....lol.

I was just talking to the wife about that. I told her I was content with my time and only plan to improve the apperance. maybe do a lexan windshield. I do need side mirrors I would have done better last week if I could hadve seen my competition

Wed Nov 11 results. Its been an interesting last 5 weeks. Four trophy's. Last night was my best not time wise but winning wise. I took 2nd blowing the final round when my thumb slipped off my trans brake. That sucked but I was happy for second place. 10.87 was the winning ticket for me. things were slower the later it got for whatever reason just had to run the numbers and I did that pretty well last night.

Are you slowing down because your jetting is lean, as the air gets better. Or is the humidity going up making the air worse? Do you have a weather station for corrected altitude?

I do and I think it may be the humidity. It was the same last week slowing down as it cooled. I do have a weather station but I really didnt use it much yesterday I just checked temp, wind and alt.I did look at the humidity but off hand no sure I will look at my tags. I just went with what it ran. A 10.75 first run and a 10.879 for my last before I freaking hit red.The track was cold and I think the problem was there to some extent.

10 Second Time Slip

10.985 slip.jpgBest Wheels Up.jpgHere is my prized 10 second time slip....10.989...on the 5th run on my new setup....just hope to get it into the 10.80's. Will probably take me about 10-15 runs doing a little tuning each run....jetting first, then timing, then rear tire air pressure then launch RPM then Up from 100 Octane to 110 octane, in that order as I see it.
I tweaked the setup just a little bit on each of my first 5 runs and it went just a little faster on each pass. The 1st of the 5 runs started out at 11.10 and went down from there.
Any suggestions as to the order of my tuning procedure ?

PS: My "build" is on a prior post earlier in this thread.

Sounds like tuning is pretty close to being on the money. A/F is critical just keep going down until it slows some. Keeping in mind the temp. My car came with a messed up 1050 Holly. For the life of me I can't figure why this was so far off but, it was. running 90 4x with no power valves and it runs so much better. Another thing is suspension your 60, I think should be a bit less mine iis into the 1.45 ares so I think getting that down should get your mph up and the et to drop a tenth. Compare each run at each mark 330, 660 and see how eah one compares. Does the car leave straight? and tire spin? I run 9lbs in my tires. I ran last night on a cold track so I know I was not as tight to it as I would have wished. My car moved right on launch. The left lane was the worst I went from launch to nearly getting the center line. You have a really cool car with a fine build you will get it down deeper in the 10's for sure. The season is over next Wed for us up here.

Mike,

Have you considered going to EFI and tuning yourself? There's alot of pros with efi, oftentimes one can get a better power band and a little more hp/tq.

Naw, no EFI for me. Heck I am old school and all I need is a carb and an intake manifold to be happy. lol.
Although I wish my 850 Mighty Demon was a 1050 Dominator and I wish my INDY Hi Volume Dual Plane was a INDY Single Plane or an Edelbrock Super Victor....Wishing and about $1200 dollars will get me there.
I do have my INDY Dual Plane and 850 Mighty Demon for sale on this site. They only have about 55 seconds of use...5 runs at about 11 seconds per run....

The final Wed night drags for Sonoma. Hoping for a good night.

Well Wed night racing is over for the season. What a boring night it was. First off they had some photo shoot with Korbel,s dragster which took about 30 minutes. Then a big accident on the highway next to the track took the ambulance away for about 45 minutes then after another arrived there was a drifting accident and that took that ambulance wasy for about an hour. So things were really dragging on before things got rolling but again not that great of a night for me. I won two elmination rounds only to lose the third. It was already 9 pm cold and so was the track. I didn't really enjoy myself that much with all the delays a total of 3 practice runs and 3 elmination runs was it. I need tires big time.

Hey Mike ,
while you are at it you might want to get some 2" headers :tongue5: . It is only money and you want the ET .
good luck and happy hunting .
Last round of the track championship coming up for me in 2 weekends . Then no racing till end of January where I am looking at racing a national series round interstate , will drive 10hrs to get there .
