Post your 10 second combo's

Test and tune day Saturday. Track was not in the best of shape but, did set a new record 60' time for me. After all the work on the front end and the new setup I picked up a tenth in 60' went down from 1.56 to 1.452. Here is a video of my one of 4 runs.

Man, there are some great looking B Body cars happening here on this site. I'm so glad I put up all my E body and A body stuff. And decided to go back to playing with Road Runners again. I certainly don't have any time slip bragging rights yet, but I am looking forward to April to doing so. My health headed south on me, now that father time took a hold of me. But I truly believe I am building a 10 second car. But around here, we only have 1/8th mile tracks now. Also, my car is pure street. The info on my car is all I can give. But this April is very important to me. Street outlaws guys from OKC will be here and I suspect I will be the ONLY MOPAR here. I am in Chevy land and MUSTANG with Nitrous. ville USA. But I am doing a 68 572 Hemi Road Runner. It runs on 93 octane. Simple roller cam engine engine Dyno'ed at a tad under 800 hp with timing at 34 degrees , box stock 750 edelbrock 750's made 740 tq at 5200 787 hp at 5900 so I went with a 5500 stall and 354 gear dana. I can do the 110 octane and bump timing to 36 to get hp up a bit, but it's just pure street. 10 3/4 compression. x275 60 15 mickey dot tires :) hemi springs n caltracs. Magna fuel system, msd, system, ya know, the kinda stuff it takes to be adaquate to keep it going. All the sfi stuff to help my feet stay attached to my legs, n stuff like that , lol. I'm an old serious racer that can't any more. But it's a bench seat car, reverse manual valvebody column shift post car. QQ1 Paint black vinyl top. I took the front disc brakes off my 69 GTX setting here in the shop, for an up grade. but it's standard disc. My goal is to run between a 6.40 - 6.20 drive to and from the track and look exactly like a 68 hemi car with a 69 airgrabber hood. Having an airbreather built for a Modman intake was a bit costly , but what isn't now a day? Come April, I will Post a time slip, whether good, bad or ugly. Either way, there will be a mopar there, and it will be there to say hello. This is the last car I am healthy enough to build. So I am quite serious about this car guys.... Wish me luck. My E body already runs a high 7 in the 1/4 mile, I just can't pass a physical anymore. The local tracks here do not have tech and besides that, this is a pure street car, with no power adder. Not real fast. I didn't intend on building it that way this time. ALAN

Fabulous 60' time...what was your ET ?
Sure seems from the audio that you are running a transbrake ?
What a great track to have so close to your home....wow.
Good Job...Mike

Mike I do run a trans brake. Nothing like pulling the trigger at 4k. The track was so loose I never finished a full run. I did an 11.81 and the tires were moving around so I let off. It had rained the night and morning before and we didn't start till 11 in the morning but, really it was not prepared for racing. but I got to try out the new suspension some. Heck it was just good to get behind the wheel and let it rip a bit. Last year with the drought it was probably in the 70's and sunny. This year it's been raining a lot. Good for the earth but, not so much for the drag strip.

I am going for more on Monday or should I say less bracket racing in Sonoma

Hey Alan!
thanks for the story on yer car!
Good for you to bring your RR to the rat & pony show! Give em hell!!
I'm sorry that health issues got you down bud... I understand...
But at the same time, at least you got your head back under the hood, not in the sand like some guy I know.
I think that you know a helluva lot about making a Mopar go really fast!
That information is priceless, there is just some things you have to learn the hard way, it's not all on the ol www.
In fact, I feel lucky that I stumbled onto this thread & your post!
You are an inspiration Alan!
Running that RR will be like a time machine!
And, I think I will not be the only one on here wanting to tap into all that racing knowledge you've got!
So, good luck, be fast but safe!
Pleasure meeting you sir!

Well went to a bracket racing meet today. Running super pro is a tough class but I like it. Car ran well 10.70 just a bit off I did 60' in 1.450 and an 016 light and still lost. Here is a video link to my rear tires. A different perspective. I have one more to upload in the morning.

Your video brings back memories of racing at Sears Point back when it was named Sears Point. I ran my GTX there several times back in the 70's. Now I live in the Seattle area and run at Pacific Raceway among many other places. If you make the turnoff with enough speed you can coast all the way downhill almost too the pits.

cool vids cayon
I like to do videos I would really like to do a video in one of those flying things getting a frontal shot. I dont know if they would let me do that but, I have yet to ask.

I was in Washington last year at the Nationals. I flew up to see my grandson and drag him out to the races. It was a scorching day. Hope to get up there again this year. If I remember it was around 90 degrees.

Great videos! You sure can learn a lot from them. What tire pressures are you running? I think I would try going down just a bit.

I did go down on the next run. I had them at 12 which I somewhat knew was to high. I dropped to 10 and car was much better at both ends. next time I am going to 9 lbs. I ran my Goodyear's at 9 Seemed go there. I was just experimenting with these new tires. That was the intent of the video. Look and see. I was told the tires were out of balance but in the video they didnt seem like they were doing anything strange. thanks for noticing.

Thanks!
That's a mean car!

Canyon, we did have some record temps here last year during the NW Nationals. I didn't go because much needed to be done before heading too Boise for Nighfire. Hope you enjoyed the Northwest and Seattle.

I did enjoy it a very nice race track. It was really hot and my grandson had some issues with the heat since he wasn't use to sitting in the sun all day. He was the main reason I flew up there. To hang out with him and enjoy. I think we both had a good time. I want to head back this year. I am hoping one day he will be driving my car.
