Went to Sac for test and tune on Saturday. Found the track prep no existent. I did get my brakes seated and they seem to be working fine. The track and in general the place was really somewhat junkie. I do prefer Sonoma over Sac. I ran an 11.08 which was disappointing. I for some reason had leaking valve covers as well which I couldn't seem to stop dripping.
yeah it's an older facility, had a cheap/tight fisted owner {Dave Smith}
it's been thru a few different managers over the last decade, part of the issues,
it's not a bad place to race, especially when it's prepped,
they have points races there still too...
But yeah, it ain't Infinity/Sear point
I've actually ran some of my best passes ever
since Fremont shut down in 81-82 @ Sacramento, back before 2007,
it use to be a good place to test {good track surface}
you could get 10+ passes in on a test & tune day &
at-least they have test & tune sessions...
I'd rather have an old junky track in Sac. than no track at all too...
the rate tracks were disappearing in Calif., I'm glad it's not closed...
Have you ever been to Woodburn
http://www.woodburndragstrip.com/
or Medford Or. {Champion Raceway I think they're still open}
or Redding
http://reddingdragstrip.info/wordpress/?page_id=2
or Bakersfield/Famoso Auto-club Raceway
http://www.famosoraceway.com/
or Samoa Drag strip in Eureka
http://samoadragstrip.com/
most are older & far less $$$$ in the facility, far less overhead
then the likes of a place like Infinity has, comparing apples to oranges
{owned by Bruden Smith Z-Max fame $$$$, who also owns a bunch of Nascar & NHRA facilities}
too bad you didn't see or race at the old Ontario, Orange Co., great International raceways
Riverside or Lions or Irwindale etc.
